hello all. does anyone know if we should be more concerned about coronavirus having HS?
Yes, its an autoimmune disease
I have been asking these questions myself too. I don't have facts at my disposal, but I can't help thinking that HS is way lower down the scale than, say diabetes. This is unrelated to your question, but I have been reading research about vitamin D in relation to lung infections. Research revealed that low levels of Vit D supplement work far better than high doses. Low amounts daily show significant differences in fighting infection than the group who did not have supplements. Would be nice to think that this would work with HS too.
people with low immune system are prone to catch on faster the virus and the symptoms might get severe , better to stay in self quarantine ,
Thank you all, i am never sure if HS is considered an autoimmune or auto-inflammatory disease? Also i wasnt aware that HS meant we have low immune system is that correct? I am not sure if i should be concerned and be isolating myself x

I think what h.s has is a hyper immune system.
Which means our bodies over react to infections.
the WHO and all medical advice indicates that EVERYONE should be isolating, let alone if one has a health compromise of any time. stay safe everyone.
Oh That's interesting, I didn't know that.
The same corrupt organisation who said it was fine to fly anywhere just a few months ago? They are not fit for purpose
I've no respect for the WHO either, but many follow them. I totally agree that they are not fit, however, in this instance what they are advocating is out of China's experience., not from their own research, hence my bringing it up. A few moths ago, no one knew the extent of the virus to forecast appropriate actions.
i wish i could, but im a keyworker and cant isolate unless necessary. thats why i wondered if HS would be considered as an 'underlying health condition' that would put us more at risk, as i didnt want to put myself at unecessary risk.
Sorry Rose. I have to beg to differ. I knew what happening back in early January and was trying to warn people on social media. Doctors in China were also warning about it. Chinese Gov't is a very poor model for anyone to follow. My daughter now has this coronavirus and so does my 7 year old grandson. My son also has HS Should he also become infected, I will report back here.
For anyone who is understandably worried about becoming infected during an HS outbreak, in my understanding, cornavirus does not enter through the skin, only through the eyes, nose and mouth.
I totally understand, and am sorry you are unable to isolate. This is such a new strain that i guess we are all learning as we go along. Please be extra careful out there and hopefully all shall be well.
It sounds like we might be on the same page in a long winded way. So i will leave that there. I am so sorry that the kids have the virus. my heart goes out to you as a mother. Sending you healing energy and wishing that your son remains unaffected.
i was advised by my doc to get the flu shot , which was due any way this month itself , i took last march 2019 ,
hi all, i think i am slightly more concerned as with HS it appears we have an overreactive immune system and i have read reports about a lot of people having what they call a cytokine storm when they get coronavirus and this is basically where the immune system goes into overdrive. I have filled in an online form for my GP Surgery for advice but they will be so busy. does anyone have any thoughts on this?
