Cortisone injection

Had an injection in my shoulder last week for impingment and it has not helped at all....

Pain still constant and far worse at night, now i have been referred to a specialist but may have to have another injection while i wait for an appointment.

Anyone else had injections to shoulder with no effect ?

Hi David. Have not had an injection yet in my shoulders, but can tell I will need one in the near future. Have had injections into my hips, knee and spine. The docs always told me that it can two weeks or longer for the medicine to take effect.

Hope it begins working soon! ❇

Dawn

Hi Dawn

Pescribed tramadol today and diclophenic pain killers as no success with the injection after a fortnight.Have been fast tracked to see a shoulder specialist soon so thats a positive.

I hope you have more success than me when you get your injection Dawn smile

David

I have had cortisone injections on 3 occasions.

The first provided some relief for about 2-months, but issue returned even worse.

A second injection only delivered about 2-weeks of relief... and a 3 ultrasound guided injection only provided 2-days of relief.

So, the injections can be great for some.. but they seemed to lose their impact for me.

Best of luck with your treatment.

Hi,

I also had the injection into shoulder about 8 weeks ago and it did not help. Also have impingment, frozen shoulder whatever they call it.  Had physical therapy too then sent to Orthopedic Surgeon. Told: Post-traumatic left shoulder adhesive capsulitis complicated by apparent reverse HAGL lesion. I have decided against the surgery for now to see if it heals in the next 2 years.

The injection has not been successful and now i been pescribed Tramadol. It is easing the pain more than previous painkillers.

I now have an appointment at an Orthapeadic hospital so we will see what that brings ?

I have an appointment at a hospital to see a consultant.I have had similar to you,5 months of physio, ultra sound scan, cortizone and various pain killers

Initially it was thought it was impinged Bursa..... so now im not so sure

Will update when i learn more

Yes, please keep us updated, my doctor said frozen/impingment takes a long time to heal. Best Wishes in your recovery smile

Yes that is how understand impingment too.... a very slow process

Best wishes to you too smile

Update after seeing consultant today....

A further cortizone injection which was very painful indeed and also an appointment to be made to have an MRI scan...

Im really anxious where all this is leading now

Are they doing an MRI Arthrogram? That way they can see if there is a tear using the dye. And I agree the cortizone was painful!

Im not sure...... i have yet to get the appointment for the MRI

The first injection was not painful but the one today has really been painful

If they set you up for one, here is a video explaining what they do:

Thats great..... thanks for that smile

Hello. I have had two steroid injections for a torn shoulder tendon I heard that the

person giving the injection has to be a marksman, to hit the right spot (not so in my case )twice  Two years down the line I am finally going to have  key hole surgery.

1---to sew the tendon together I think I will pass on that bit ,and,

2 --to shave some calcium growth off of the cuff, which is greatly restricting arm

movement, and painful ,and  I crycan't sleep on left side ,favoured one, of course!!!!!!

Arm in a sling for 4  weeks minimum .with physio thrown in.Bad news is NO driving, and not to do anything with the arm  OR ELSE

Ouch !!!!

Had my 2nd injection Thursday and there was some pain relief initially.

However, the pain has returned today so not much success it would seem

Im in my 9th month of seeing GPs,physios, consultant now.... seems i have a long way to go yet sad

Told you so !!!!!!

Double sad sad

Next hurdle is, to get a referal from your doctor, who will assess if you are

ready, meaning, that you are in sufficient pain, and your arm is fairly useless

Then  He/she will utter the magic words REFERAL TO CONSULTANT,---

and then you wait.

I see the surgeon on Wednesday,To be told when I can, or, will be done

and then It's WUSS time  questionfrownsad

Hmmmmm......

I have been referred to the consultant who gave me my 2nd injection. So he has now referred me to have the MRI scan. This is also being done privately via the NHS.... not sure how that works ???

Good luck for Wednesday smile hope you get the news you want
