Crohn's and Stress and Anxiety

My 10 year old daughter has Crohn's and has been taking 75mg Azathioprine for 9 months approx. In the last couple of months she has become very stressed and anxious, signs of depression and angry (with fits of what I can only call uncontrollable rage). She has also been vomiting every other day for last two weeks. Could all this be linked to either Crohn's or the medication?

Go to either your Ibd nurse or the consultant.  Being a mum it must be difficult to know how best to help her.  It could be something outside the Crohns.

We are seeing consultant tomorrow, been to GP also. She has so much going on and it is affecting all of us. Be interesting to see what he says.

Good luck.  Write down all your questions and ask your 10 year old to do the same.  It will make him feel part of it.

Could be go back to your GP and/or consultant.

Hi, it could be the meds that are makng her sick. I have crohns for 8 years, it is known that crohns can make people have anger outbursts.

Hi, been to the consultant and he said there was no direct link but just that any illness can affect the mental state over a period of time. He has taken her off azathioprine and onto a course of steroids. Hopefully we'll see some results there.

I am 20 years old. I was diagnosed with Crohns in 2014 but have been suffering with anxiety and stress since about 2010.

It became worse since my diagnoses and I have developed a skin picking disorder. I also get irritable and feel a lot of frustration and anger in me. I haev become a very self concious person and the only way I can show that is through anger and frustration as I feel other people don't try to understand me.

Maybe this could be similar to your daughter? It can all be a scary and unsettling experience.
