Delkie

Had my hip operation on 14th April all was ok but after about 4 weeks elt when i sit down i am sat on something like a mobile phone in my back pocket if that makes sence it is very uncomfortable when i went for my 6 week check up i told the consultant and was hopeing for a x ray but he said sit on pillow and take pain killers has anyone on here had the same pain please

Hi delkie,I am 13 weeks post op today! And even now my hip doesn't feel right! I am having reflexology and am starting swimming gently next week! Then I will have a spa from time to time! We have had a major op! And it can take 6 to 12months to get back to normal! I am also a carer so am always on the go! Anyway good luck! Regards Amanda

Mine was the 24th April I'm still sitting on cushions . My lower back muscles in the pelvis area hurt and get quite achy. I think there are some muscles there that connect to the leg so have probably had a bit of trauma from the op.  Mine also occasionally hurt before the op. Like you though I didn't notice them the first few weeks after the op. I think it is because I am now doing more and so they are suffering the strainn along side nowhere near as many painkillers!

Hi

I think this is just the internal swelling and bruising, I feel the same only I described it as a cricket ball!

Had my 6 week check today, no X-ray either but surgeon happy with progress and all restrictions lifted.

Good luck

I can feel my hip clicking when I walk and my thigh and ankle are still swollen especially at night, I also find the scar and muscle sometimes sting. I still can't walk very far and get very tired easily and the other thing I find 2.30am I am wide awake all I can say is I take pain killers and my Amazon kindle tablet has been a life saver

Look everyone! We have all had a very major op! We all heal in different ways! I am 13weeks post op today! And even now still achy at times! I am having reflexology and gentle swimming! Regards Amanda

Hi Delkie,

i will be 16 weeks on Friday and I'm doing well I think. I walk unaided and sleep on my sides and have started Pilates classes and go to the gym. But I also feel "something" in my side buttock (if that makes sense). It's not always there and feels worse when I'm tired. I asumed it was the muscles and tendons etc coming together to start the healing process.

Catrin

Well I hope by 13 weeks I will be able to have reflexology I can't swim so swimming is out for me lol, my surgeon is of the old school the best exercise is walking so I try to walk around as much as I can. You must think we are all having a moan but it is nice to have a forum to be able relate to each other how they are feeling so peeps if any one wants to to have a chat about their aches and pains I am very happy to listen and to give tips

Hi,  I had my op on the 20th and I know exactly the pain you mean.  I described it as a ball pushing out of the back of my buttock at the top.  This is still on going, worse when tired and when in car.  I assume it is muscles and bruising.  See my consultant next week as I could not make initial appt.  On whole I feel I am progressing well, but now I am doing more without sticks I notice how tired my muscles get.  Sleep is still rubbish!  I can not sleep on operated side although people say that is possible it hurts too much for me.  Ups and downs are pretty normal reading the forum.

Good luck

Helen

I had my op on 11May and I get the same feelings as you, I am still using my sticks out side but indoors I can walk unaided as we live in a bungalow so haven't attempted stairs yet, I have been given another 4 weeks off work which will please my personnel manager NOT LOL, as for sleeping thank goodness for my ereader/tablet I have tried to sleep on my unoperated side but it's uncomfortable that is playing up now and I know that hip will need to be replaced within the next 6 to 12 months

Regards lyn

Thank you Catrin i also walk unaided but carnt sleep on my operated side lets hope it is the healing process

Hi Helen. Read your comments about sleeping on your operated side. Not sure how long ago it was you had your thr - April or May? I had mine on 7th April.  It does hurt at first but the pain should get less and less. I also found at first I couldn't just turn/roll over but had to physically lift myself up and place myself back down again, if that makes any sense?   As everyone else has found sleep is very disrupted, but agsin I think it will improve in time. I think I am one of the insomniacs between midnight and 3am! Anyway hope it gets easier for you. sarah

Thank you Helen it helps to talk to other people i was worried it was just me i carnt sleep on my operated side but can now do most things take care and thank you

MY WAKING TIME IS 2.30am, thank goodness for my kindle I play games as well as use it for reading books, and also have a nice hot drink my pain killers are cocodamol the strongest could give me 30codeine 500 paracetamol I have also tried parasol night time they work quite well

I think everyone realises they have had a major operation and their body has been subjected to a major trauma.  The forum is really helpful and it is good to know symptoms we may be experiencing following the operation aren't unusual and to be expected.

Thank you Lyn i also live in a bungalow and also love my kindle would be lost with out it i carnt sleep on my operated side and also have to have my other hip replaced within the next few months not looking forward to it you take care and thank you
