type 2 diabetes, every one i know with it they have gained weight, but all i have read says it leads to weight loss? any ideas. mike
It depends on how severe the diabetes is. When blood glucose goes really high the excess glucose goes out of the body with the urine. This can lead to weight loss. It happens most often in undiagnosed Type 1 diabetes, but can happen with advanced and undiagnosed cases of Type 2 as well. In less severe cases of Type 2, excess weight can be a contributing factor to disease. And some treatments of diabetes without appropriate diet adjustments can lead to weight gain. The most common type 2 drug used is metformin. In many people it can assist with some weight loss.
