I was diagnosed by the hospital with TN and today have had an MRI. The MRI has some back normal with no explanation of what is causing the TN. Has anyone had a similar experience to this?
Yes but i know what caused mine i got an ear infection and it slowly got worse but mine is constantly hurting ive been on meds for 2 years got it at 30
I have had two MRI's. The second I insisted on contrast dye and a special type of MRI called Fiesta. The second did not show compression but did show the artery right next to the nerve which the radiologist said could be causing my TN. This was enough for the neurosurgeon to put me on the list for MVD. Problem is I now have symptoms on both sides of my face.
Yeah. They didn't see anything in my MRI but I was still diagnosed. TN isn't a simple nerve disease, sometimes the reason for TN is unknown. Plus many people are misdiagnosed. I'm not sure why I have it. It could be from the time when I hit my head but Idk.
I was told with my MRI that the compression may not always show in the images. If the nerve and blood vessel are so close that they only touch with heartbeats / blood pressure then it won't be clearly visible.
