I don't know if anyone can help me with this or not .
But I have been suffering for over a year with anxiety and panic attacks. They have tryed me on different meds and nothing helps I have horrible side effects with all of them and my anxiety is so bad I can't even drive by myself or even go 20 minutes from my house evenings is the worse so she gave me diazepam to take as needed well I am only 26 years old long term use scares me and scares me alot getting tonlornce to it because of the panic attacks. But seems like my anxiety is really horrible at evening and night so that's when I really need it and of course taking trips . Seems like sometimes it doesn't even work, sometimes it helps alot I don't know why that is but anyways my question is has anyone ever used diazepam long term to treat anxiety?
This really needs intense therapy to work through. Its actually a mindset more then a pill.
I was given them as a last resort but finding it hard three years on to ditch them. Please only use them if necessary as they are hard to come off and sap your confidence and self esteem. Use sparingly if at all.
Hi Brittany,
I have used 5mg Diazepam on prescription to help with loosening muscle spasms in my throat caused by anxiety for over five years (not every day and with some big gaps sometimes months inbetween)
It has the added benefit of relaxing me too as well as the overtightened muscles.
I was advised that the trick with Diazepam is not to let your body get used to it so don't take it for more than a few days at a time, it has a half life (time in stays in your body) of 2-5 days anyway so you dont need to keep piling it in every day.
Occasionally the day after it can make me feel a little down as its effects wear off but in general I cant speak highly enough of it as it has worked 100% of the time for me.
I hope this post helps you...
P.s. I also have panic attacks and the diazepam settles the attack usually in around 20-25mins as it is very fast acting.
Yes. Terrible anxiety, at worse won't go out, heartvracing, head racin, constant worrying, shaking in public etc. Years ago tried couple of meds, not for me , didn't notice any difference. Take diazapam now , my doctor is great , he only gives me small amounts so I can't be tempted to rely on them, they simply help to relax my nerves a little so I can calm down enough to push myself to do stuff when really anxious, or I would perhaps take one if I hadn't slept well for a few nights( thoughts racing etc. I would never take too many, and I do think some meds help, would love one day for my anxiety to be where I don't take any diazapam, then my doc would help me taper down, I came off a med years ago, ( just stopped, cold turkey, pure hell, like anxiety times ten , and I thought anxiety was as bad as it gets . Talk to doc everyone's different but if you take sensibly it could help❤️
Hi;Brittany, I am taking xanax for over 20 years..0.5 three times daily..years ago my GP give me diazapam, when I got pregnant, and felt I couldn't handle it....He told me diazapam is on the go many many years, and wouldn't do me any harm...I was taking 2mg three times daily...really helped me...later on another GP give me xanax,as I started to take panic attacks,so I crossed over to them..and stopped the diazapam...I think if you take what your prescribed, and not abuse them, you will be grand..like you, sometimes they work better than others...I dont worry about addiction, my anxiety is severe, and they help me get through the day...some A/Ds are very hard to come off too. I think you can get dependant on any med, if taken long enough...xx
