I'm trying to do some of my own research around the difference between different home NIV systems.
Would love to get some of your thoughts around Optiflow and the other F&P systems, versus the Resmed VPAP system, or the respironics AVAPS system. Do any of you have experience with these? It seems to me like the F&P system is better for earlier stage, while the Resmed one is better for later stage/hospital use?
Thanks in advance for your help
I am a respiratory therapist what exactly are you looking for. The majority of my patients look for comfort and ease of use. My suggestions are to ensure the device ramps up to the pressure desired instead of all at once. The main thing for comfort is the type of mask or nasal pillows you use. You want an easy seal but at the same time to be able to remove the device if something goes wrong
Thanks, Matt. Do you know if there's a general preference for the Resmed, Fisher and Paykel, or Respironics systems?
I'm kinda old school on the subject. Respironics are the gold standard when it comes to non invasive devices I have always told my patients it's what you feel is more comfortable to you. These reason I keep bringing up comfort is because if you are not comfortable with the device on then you will not wear it no matter how hard you try. Did you choose a mask yet
