Discomfort all the time. Replens? Topical hormone treatment?

Hi Tracy, Thought it was just me who had good days and bad days with the Vaginal Atrophy. I see what you mean about fluctuating hormone levels though. After all, I'm still only the Vagifem twice a week. Maybe if I took one every day for a while it would be different but I'm not changing anything till I've seen the doctor. Yes I can see what you mean about having to take a small dose with not having ovaries. But that's good if you get no soreness etc as a result isn't it. I will be so relieved if I can sometime either be free of the symptoms, with or without the medication. It's been virtually a year now since this started. Off on holiday this morning! My fingers are crossed for ad little discomfort as possible. Take care. :-)

Hi maybe you can try Vitamin E capsules that you take orally, meanwhile it may help keep the area nourished. Just pop open a capsule and mix with a tiny bit of olive oil as it is quite thick and sticky then massage into the outside area. I used to mix it up in a small bottle to save doing it daily. Hoping you have more good days.

Have a lovely holiday :-)

Great idea

good luck Shirley

I'm sorry that you're having such a hard time. I just wanted to mention that it could be that you have an allergy to parabens which is quite common and is also found in a tremendous number of health products. Almost all of the Replens products contain parabens except the once's with pre-filled applicators. I bought those and had no problems.

Wishing you much healing and success.

I would also like to mention that along with the dryness, I was having a lot of pelvic floor pain and other symptoms. We invesitgated the problem using Frequency Medicine (completely non-invasive - energetic) and discovered that I had herpes zoster! This virus does not always manifest as shingles on the outer skin in adults, it can also affect the inner organs. We treated the virus both energetically and using homeopathy and after 5 days, all the discomfort was GONE!

Thanks for that idea Tracy. It was Friday when I had the really bad day after Thursdays really good day. Yesterday we travelled 300 miles in the car. And whilst my VA was perfect, I've known it worse too. Today has been pretty good I'm pleased to say. Even drank loads of tea in the tea shop and felt no urge to wee. Some days I feel the urge all day long then when I go to the bathroom, hardly anything comes out! Anyway a good day today and no soreness either. Dare I hope for another good day tomorrow? Yes, I really really hope it is. First. Vagifem of the week tonight. Take care.

* Wasn't perfect I meant to say!

Thanks Sus. Thursday was good. Friday was bad. Saturday wasn't too bad. Known it worse and known it better too. Today was another good day. So my fingers are well and truly crossed for another good day tomorrow. Hope you are doing well too. :-)

So glad your having a few more good days. Hopefully these will continue and you can start to feel normal again :-)

Hope today is good

Thanks Tracy. Time will tell. :-)

Thanks Sus. I feel OK right now so my fingers are crossed that today will be another good one :-)

Hi Rosie. I use vagifem pessaries twice a week and top them up with "Yes water based lubricant every few days. It works for me along with an oil based lubricant for Saturday nights! 😊 I had terrible itching and soreness along with constant cystitis but not since I have followed this regime. I believe you can now get Yes on prescription though I just go to thru their website. Hope you get it sorted as if us miserable condition!

Hi Sally, I also use Vagifem pessaries twice a week. Been using them since Xmas though I started with the V A a year ago. I have seen the Yes lubricants but I thought it was expensive. It was £11 for 6 applications. But can you just use part of one or do you have to use the whole thing in one go? Yes it is a miserable condition. Though there has been a slight improvement since last Thursday. Last Thursday, on a scale out of 1 - 10, 1 being really bad and 10 being no signs of A V at all, last Thursday was 10 on the Scale. Then Friday was about 3. Today has been about a 5. But Saturday to Tuesday were about 8. So up and down. I can feel the discomfort now but not at its worst. The wanting to wee all the time is a real bind too though not just as bad since Friday. Glad you are coping well anyway. I won't believe if I get up one day and I'm free of the A V. It will feel like all my Xmas's have come at once!!

Hi Shirley. Yes , they are expensive but you can bulk buy them in bags of 30 (water based applicators) and the oil based lubricant which I only use for fun nights (!) I am 67 so the oil based lube lasts a long time 😀😀 I am sure the last time I went on their website that you can now get them on prescription. Have a look. In fact I will have a look tomorrow as I need to get the water based applicators stocked up gor our holiday 😊. I only normally use ghe applicators once or twice a week along with the twice weekly vagifem and although I have better days I don't seem to get bad days any more. Just good and better if you follow. Anyway hope you manage to find a solution that suits you. Kind regards Sall

Thanks Sall, I'm 57 by the way. I will go and check out the YES website later. It sounds good being able to bulk buy them in bags of 30. Glad you are doing well anyway. I am just amazed that in all my years, nobody warned me of this condition and the doctor said it was really common in post menopausal women. Thanks again. Shirley

I am 42 and it seems that (although I didn't realise until fairly late in life that it was an actual condition) I have suffered from A dry vagina for most of my life. I have had a lifetime of thrush and discomfort after sex but in recent years my partner encouraged me to get a referral to a gynaecologist who put me on Vagifem twice a week (vaginally). This worked really well for me but now I've been on them for 2 Years and the Dr is now saying I'm risking getting cancer by continuing in this treatment. For the last month I have stopped taking the vagifem and now I'm back to being dry, sore and terrified of having sex incase it brings on the dreaded thrush! Has anyone been on Vagifem long term? Advice would be gratefully received.
