Hola chicos, espero que todos estén bien. Effexor me está haciendo sentir mejor, pero desde hace aproximadamente una semana y media solo puedo dormir como máximo 4 horas por la noche. Normalmente soy una persona que duerme 8-10 horas. El único cambio en la medicación recientemente fue Effexor 75mg xr por la mañana. Llevo tomando esta medicación unas 3 semanas ahora. ¿Se pasa el insomnio por sí solo? Realmente odio tomar más medicación, especialmente un somnífero. Cualquier consejo es muy apreciado.
It is not a bad idea to take a sleeping aid when you haven't had enough sleep for more than two days in a row. Lack of sleep can mess with your symptoms and delay recovery. Psychiatrists do not allow sleeplessness to become chronic for this reason. Taking a mild sedative (if one is prescribed by doctor) is less harmful in these cases than lack of sleep.
Having said that, you should be able to manage more sleep within the next two weeks or so. However...I would not wait that long and would mention this to doctor.

I take melatonin and it seems to help.
I take Unisome (half tab) @ night. Im on Celexa. I also took it while on Zoloft. Check it with pharmacy first of coarse.
Gracias a todos por responder. Voy a probar la melatonina, es un ayudante natural del sueño y mi esposa tiene. Si nada va bien, le preguntaré a mi terapeuta al respecto. La llamé y parece que es un problema común con Effexor. Recuperé mi seguro de salud. Solo tengo miedo de tomar medicamentos para dormir
My doctor also gave me some Ativan to use when needed. Sometimes if I can't sleep and get worked up I do that as well. Sleeping pills do make me groggy for first half of day and that's no good for work. Good luck.
Effexor is notorious for causing sleep disturbances and adjustment insomnia. Some psychiatrists never prescribe it without a temporary sedative sidekick for this reason But for those without sedatives, it should get better after a while yes. Important to not take it later than 3pm - the earlier int he day, the better. And with food.
Gracias a todos, ayer dormí 8 horas. Pero anoche y esta mañana no he dormido y tomé melatonina. Pero no funcionó. También noto que cuando empiezo a adormecerme, empiezo a temblar como loco. Mi esposa contó 5 veces durante mi sueño. Pero no hay problema cuando estoy despierto. ¿Alguien ha tenido esta experiencia? Pero nunca había tenido problemas de temblores antes. Solo me pregunto.

I would try doxylomine hydrochloride or Unisome 25mg tablets. I take Celexa an sometimes have to take half of a 25mg. Unisom. Knocks me out. Im also on Klonapine (Clonazapam generic) anti-anxiety med 0.5mg whenever necessary but don't take unisome an Klonapine at same time. I looked interactions. It said none. So look into that. Id stay away from Ambien!! Horrible! I slept walked everywhere. Talking outloud to myself. Fell off commode in middle of night. Hurt my head. Fell getting into ved!! Felt like no bodily control or I was still asleep but awake (?). Never again!
