Energy levels

Hi all

Had my operation on Wednesday all went well discharge was delayed due to feeling unwell with dizziness.

Now home which is bliss... One thing ive noticed is in very tired after doing even the smallest of task

i had thr right last year and don't remember feeling as tired like i am.

anyone else feel like this ?

dee😊

Hi Dee,

glad you are home OK.  Well done!  What you are saying about your tiredness is normal.  I think because of early mobilisation and early discharge, we forget that it is quite a big operation and we don,t allow ourselves time to rest and heal.  Your post op blood tests would have shown any anaemia etc, so presumably that,s OK.

come on girl!  Do your exercises and then put your feet up and enjoy the rest!

good luck.   Sue UK

Hi Dee

Congratulations on your second thr and now you are back home. I had my op nearly 5 weeks ago and one thing you learn from this forum is that everyone is different and even each op can be different. You are much younger than me (I'm 64) but I felt extremely tired for the first coupe of weeks and even the slightest extra exertion (daily exercises etc) wore me out. The Physio suggested having a proper rest in bed every afternoon and sometimes I slept for two hours! It certainly helped. Even now as I do more each day I still try to grab a nap if I'm feeling tired. It is very early days for you since you had your op and your body needs lots of extra rest to help it recover. Concentrate on getting better and rest when you need to.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hi denise!  I am 6 weeks post op 43 years old THR.  I too was extremely tired after just the smallest of tasks in the beginning.  Now I find myself only having to nap 2-3 times a week.  Wishing you a speedy recovery! Ginny USA

Hi Denise,  I am just over two weeks post op, 64 years old and yes I get very tired and actually go and lie on the bed each afternoon for a nap which was recommended by my health care team. Go with your body. It will let you know if you are overdoing it. Good luck with your recovery.

Hi Denise. I am onto my second and felt unwell and dizzi this time but not with my first. I cant even concentrate on a book without nodding off. Im 7 days post op..

Hi am 60 and almost 5 weeks post op .still get very tired . Taking protein shakes as recommended on forum to build up muscle . Enjoy nap in  afternoon

I'm 62 and was astonished at how tired I felt, too.  My anaemia test was borderline so I'm taking iron tabs for a few weeks, but even so  I regularly crashed for two hours in the afternoon for the first couple of weeks (now just over 3 weeks post-op).  Don't forget you probably aren't sleeping at night very well, and were almost certainly stressed pre-op (who isn't?) so it's not surprising that your body's now reacting to that by trying to rest.  Go with it.....

Hi

Glad you are through it all.....its normal to be tired...just make sure you do your exercises and then relaxwink

I dont think you can compare both THR's ....mine were different  LOL

Take care

Glad everything went well, so now take it easy and don't do too much.  Don't feel you have to go out and walk if the weather is bad, just walk round the house for a bit, do your exercises as instructed and have a lie down in the afternoons.  You will soon start to feel more energised.  All the best.

Hi Denise

I am three weeks post op today, and I did a few things within my scope today and felt

very tired, you need to go steady if yours is not even a week yet.  Take care and dont

Rush.
