Uneindeutige HSV2-Ergebnisse

Hi there, any information & advice would really help.

I am a 22 year old male. I am quite sexually active both protected/non-protected but usually always protected. I have always had HSV1, getting cold sores since a young age, but very mild ones, possibly 1 to 2 times a year and small ones.  Last year on the 14th of November - I went for a full STD check including IGG bloods for both HSV1 & HSV2 and the results came back positive for HSV1 & negative for HSV2. However recently on the 12th of March I went for another full STI check & blood tests, because I was experiencing a greenish discharge which I thought was Chylamdia. I had a urine sample taken & a swab however the results came back negative for everything & my IGG blood results came back positive for HSV1 & equivocal for HSV2. I have not experienced any lesions/cuts or blisters on my genitals however there has been an itch/burning/tingling sensation in my pubic area & inner groin, which I think could just be related to my intense anxiety over this situation, I am not sure.

After getting my equivocal results back my doctor said I should retest in next 4 months just incase it was an early infection or a mistake. After this confusing result my mind has been all over the place & I have been so anxious.

I decided to see another doctor as this discharge was still continuing & he said it was urethritis & prescribed me doxylin for 10 days which cleared everything up. He also told me that IGG blood tests are not so accurate & the best way to diagnose herpes is through a swab if there is a lesion present & told me not to worry & just try put this all behind me because how mentally straining this all is.

However I cannot stop over obsessing about this. It has now nearly been a month and i have not experienced any pain, lesions, cuts or blisters on my genitals just sometimes a bit of an itch and a burning/tingling sensation around my pubic area & inner groin.

What are the chances this is herpes?

What is the chance of my equivocal result going negative?

Thank you for reading this & your time.

I really wouldn’t stress over it hun. I was just diagnosed little over a week ago with genital herpes. Only stress I have right now is having to tell my partner, but even if you do find out you have genital herpes in the future, it is not the end of the world. 1 in 5 people have it. It is very common and very controllable. I think you are able to get a blood test  done if you r expiriencing the tingling and itching. Could be a sign of viral shedding but could also be caused by many other things. From now on I would just suggest protected sex if you are not manogamous with one singular person because for the rest of my life I will have to tell everyone I’m with I have herpes. Best of luck to you tho and hope you do not have it
