Problèmes d'érection toute ma vie

Hello I came on to this site to report a pain in my neck and shoulders, and have posted on another group. However, now I'm on the site, I thought I would post about a much long-standing issue. I have given up on resolving this major problem, just take the view that I have to accept this major issue in my life. Simply, I have never had an erection and I'm 50 years of age. And I mean never. Had a succession of gfs and a couple of long-term relationships and it's always been a cloud hanging over me. I have visited my doctors over the years but none of them have taken the issue seriously and just prescribed tablets (Sildenafil (Viagra) and vardenafil ) which have never helped. Over the years I have learned to live with not having sex. It gets me down and is always an issue which is in the back of my mind but I never imagined anything could be done about it. I am very healthy, I run and cycle most days, have a successful career, nice flat and great circle of friends. I am currently single and generally just get on with life. Just wondering if anyone has any advice for me. I really have not addressed the issue and probably fearful of the stress and angst which would be brought on by having any alternative treatment to try and find a solution. Thanks in advance.

Hi sean04724,

ED is a common complication among us males and there is no need for you to carry this cloud around. Your case has to be analysed with specific attention because this is something that has been present your entire life. Since this platform has its limitations I’m going to limit myself to basic questions that can help you think on a possible reason.

First, ED could be caused by many factors, the 2 most common are physiological or psychological. The physiological is usually linked to body malfunction, such as improper blood flow (due to atherosclerosis or diabetes), insufficient blood retention or cardiac problems. Since you mentioned you’re healthy, I’m assuming you have had proper inspection of all your body systems, discarding the most common physiological problems (there are more). Most people have a psychological issue in which the patient has internalized that they have ED. Theses patients have had first time sex bad experience which psychologically marks them, making them believe they have any issue.

So in terms of the psychological side of the problems,

  1. Have you ever been able to sustain an erection while you masturbate? Or you haven’t been able to masturbate since you can not have an erection?
  2. Have you ever had any form of erection during the day? Usually when there is a desire to urinate, due to Nervous System signals, there might be an erection.
  3. Have you ever had a morning erection (Morning Wood)?

This is a personal technique a friend used a long time ago, nothing medical nor evidence based, but you could try it. He had a sex partner committed to helping him out with positive speech during sexual activities. It took him a pretty long time to get over it but it worked for him.

I hope this has been of help for you!

Warm regards,
