ESCITALOPRAM HELP

Hi all,

I’m suffering really bad with anxiety I’m on my 4th week of Escitalopram the 1st 2 weeks was awful the 2nd 2 weeks wasn’t to bad now week 4 I expected to see some improvement but I’m awful again & wondering wether to carry on or stop or increase or change looking for some hope help & advice thanks

How many mg are you taking?

Hi Leah,

I feel you on this. I just started back up on Lexapro (5mg) and am on 4 weeks with no improvement what so ever. I'm planning on sticking it out to the 6 week mark, and see if anything improves. We might be the type of people that require a longer period of time for the effects to kick in.

Keep me posted and good luck!!

Erica

Sorry I was at the doctors only 5mg theve just increased it to 10mg?

Thank you good to hear someone’s in the same boat as me but not good that it’s nlt working for you yet sad what mg are you on? Hope you feel better soon x

Hi Leah,

I started taking escitalopram about 2 and a half weeks ago for anxiety and depression due to this horrible mono virus I’ve been experiencing. It does take a while for these types of medications to settle in and for me the first week was really horrible as well.I feel slightly less anxious now but still not that great. Just wishing to feel like myself again. I hope this medication starts working for you soon, hang in there and I would wait a bit longer to see if it produces any positive effects.

Hi Leah, I'm on the same boat as you. I've been taking escitalopram 10mg for 6 weeks and I still have diarrea, nausea, and panic attacks frequently, which I didn't even have before starting. Supposedly 80% of people feel an improvement by week 8, so I would stick with it a little longer.

I hope it starts working for both of us soon.

Hi, I’m sorry to hear that I don’t think I can do another 4 weeks of it I’m going to the doctors to see if I can change it or stop it it’s awful I think I would of been better by now if I haddnt started taking it sad hope you feel better soon

I'm on Day 26 of 10 mg; after several good days in a row, I had a bad day/night yesterday. I'm still experiencing side effects, as well. I'm really sick of dealing with this. I do plan to stay on this dose until 12 weeks, and then I'll probably be increasing.

These meds do take a while to kick in....as tempting as it can be to quit or switch to something else, I'd recommend hanging in there until the 8 week point, at least. I've even read some reviews where people say it doesn't start to work for them until the 3 month mark!
