I noticed when I’m talking as of recently that my right ear (the one the doctor said looked dull and had fluid behind it) will make a pop sound. I read in a lot of forums that it might be a sign of ETD? Any truth to it and anybody else have the same?
Hello Sydney,I think I replied to you the other day. Yes, if you have fluid (mucus) behind
your eardrum that won't drain that is considered Eustachian Tube Dysfunction.

Yes, Hi Anne! I can always count on you I appreciate that! I don’t exactly know if I have ETD the doctor did say my eardrum was dull which I guess is an indication there’s fluid? Which is what he said! But I feel worried because I’ve seen many forums saying that one doctor will say there’s fluid and another doctor will look and say there’s nothing D:
I’m going to my appointment next week So hopefully I get to the bottom of all this, it’s very irritating!
I know you have severe ETD, do you take any steroid nasal sprays at all? Or other medication to help it?
Me again, Yes, I use the Flixonase Nasule Drops. But now only have to use them when my
ears block up, which is approx. every 5 to 6 days. Had to use them today, then give a gentle
pop to the eardrum and they remain good for another 5/6 days.
It certainly sounds to me as though you have ETD....if ears are blocked (apart from wax) what
else could it be.
Please don't worry about it as it's very common, however, a very debilitating condition to suffer.
I suffer Tinnitus too...so double trouble !!
I'm don't know what country you're in. It seems apart from the nasal spray, not every country
prescribes, or can even get these nasules I use....they are stronger than the sprays, hence I
now no longer use it daily.
Let me know how you get on after you've see your doctor and the very bet of luck.
PS. If your ears have been blocked now for a long time, suggest a reducing course
of Prednisolone steroid tablets. They are excellent for getting rid of all the inflammation
that prevents our ears fro draining properly.
