Ejercicios...9 semanas post operadas

Hi everyone....

Just curious..I'm 9 weeks post op lthr...I'm doing very well..I walk..(longer walks I bring a cane) around 3 miles..I do steps to muscle up that left side..I do stretches..and I do some core....my Dr cleared me at 4 months..but I'm still very cautious..does anyone do yoga.? Do you think it's ok to do hip flexor stretches and exercises..my thighs feel really tight..but I don't want to push it to hard....are we ever out of the woods on hip dislocating..I just feel I need to stretch..deep stretches..

Thanks for reading

Connie

Hi connie,

I am like you desperate to return to some good stretching. I will be 11 weeks on wednesday and checking out some health authority websites in the uk it does say you can start doing some sensible yoga/pilates exercises like the bridge, clam etc, just do not try the more advance positions. Start easy and work up.

Connie, I can’t remember exactly when I went back to yoga, it might have been at 12 weeks.  But my yoga instructor had total hip replacement at end of December and was back Teaching at 8 weeks.  She was very careful about some positions.  I would suggest finding a really experienced instructor to begin yoga again.  One thing my surgeon did not want me doing was Pilates.  I think he meant w the reformer as you can really hurt yourself on that.

Hi COnnie, please ask your doctor.  My surgeon told me NOT to do Yoga.  It’s one thing I cannot do.  So ask your doctor first.

Millie

Did he mean you couldn't do yoga ever?

Hi Stacey

I'm wondering if planks are ok to do..my therapist said she didn't seem why I couldn't do them.

Do you think planks are ok to do?

Yes. But now i’m hearing people doing some yoga. I will ask him again.  Maybe just some positions then.

Thanks Millie

My Dr told me I had no restrictions..he said he recommends not to run or do activities with jumping and constant pounding on the joint..I just get confused reading limitation s and restrictions other people have..I had the lateral anterior approach..I'm thinking it's the hardware he used the bigger ball and socket...idk..this is all confusing..I go see him in a week ..I need to ask again and get clarification..don't you think this is all confusing Millie?

Dear Connie,

Yes, it gets confusing when I read things in forums.  Maybe doctors think differently? I had posterior approach. I go back in a week’s time too.  I will clarify then.  It will be my 6th week.  I have other problems that concerns me more, like tingling and numbness of leg and foot. I think just listen to your doctor . He knows what you had and what you can do. Good luck!

I have those problems as well...the tingling..pins and needles. ..they told me it was nerve endings trying reroute their paths..I'll let you know what my Dr says..keep me posted what your Dr. Says..good luck to you as well

Thanks Connie!  It’s bothering me so much !😩😜

Good luck too , Connie! I’ll keep you posted..

Connie, with the plank you are keeping your body straight, using the core and arms as there is no twist on the hip it seems a safe move as long as you have the strength in your arms. As the clam is recommended and the bridge the plank seems much safer.

Thank you. I have been doing 3 min half planks I guess. Staying on my knees and forearm..my arms are ok as far as strength I have been doing weights to firm up .I just want to work on core. Because I ride horses and I need core strength for balance and such...thank you
