12 months ago I had an upper molar removed after years of constant infections and failed root canal.
It healed really slowly and badly with weeks of pain and discomfort.
Referred to dental hospital who, after a CT diagnosed that it was likely being caused by problem with the adjacent molar.
Started a root canal on this but was very painful between appointments so elected to just have this extracted too. That was 4 weeks ago. Due to all the infection problems I was given a course of antibiotics at time of extraction
Since… there has been no pain, and visually it is healing much better than the last one. There is now still a crater, red inside, but very shallow and getting shallower week on week.
All I have suffered is a throbbing… not painful… just a feeling of my pulse at the site… off and on since it was done.
Past few days this throbbing has become more constant and noticable.. together with a feeling of stiffness/tightness in the cheekbone area above the site and back towards the ear.
Again… its not pain. Just the annoying throbbing feeling and the stiffness. Like its swollen inside ??
Is this just normal healing ? It was a big tooth with 3 “massive roots”.. or should I be concerned ??
