Feeling dizzy/anxiety/vertigo

I have been feeling dizzy but not like i am going to faint or ligtheaded but i feel like i am swaying or rocking. But this feeling only happens when i am sitting down for some reason and it goes away when i drive, ride in a car, exercise, and walk. It feels better when i am moving and i dont know if i am thinking to much or if this is an actual problem. I am not falling over or lose balance because once i stand up it goes away. it is very wierd. My ears don't have any ear wax but could there be some deep inside thats causing this? And i also heard this could be a sinus problem but my nose is not stuffy. I got blood tested and urine tested and they came back normal. My doctor said i don't need to do any further tests because no other significant symptoms are with this, plus i can still do my daily activities but its just when i sit down. Does anybody know what this could be and any advice? This all happened after i got the common cold which happened like 3 weeks ago and i am only 19. Can anyone give some advice?

Hi rich, iv had that very same symptom your describing, sitting down with that slight rocking sensation, i hate it it made me worry alot but my doctor doesnt seem concerned with it he says its all classic anxiety symptoms, it tends to come and go with me along with a variety of other symptoms, anxiety is very complicated try not to analyse the symptoms to much i just try and go with it, it will pass and its not a sign of anything dangerous, i like u started to question my inner ear and sinuses to but its the inconsistency of the symptom that points to it being anxiety related. Hope this helps.

thanks so much for replying. U shed some light on my situation bro. I have been thinking too much negativity since this started happeneing. But i thought to myself if i can still drive and exercise without any problems, then i should be fine. But its when i am sitting and sometimes lying down DOING NOTHING is when i feel this. Its so stupid that something can happen when you are doing nothing. I just wanna relax and sit down and watch some tv man. My doctor doesnt really want to put me on medication because he doesnt feel anything is really wrong with me so what did you do to overcome this? I have been checking vestibular therapy exercises wondering if that will help. But i dont have anything with my ears, man i dont know. Im 19 and i feel i shouldnt be dealing with this.

Sitting down doing nothing but THINKING ABOUT IT i bet' anxiety can affect all systems in the body especially nerves' muscle tension etc i still get it from time to time but i know its just anxiety playing up so i dont worry about it anymore, honestly im sick of worrying about anxiety symptoms, so i try to ignore them or (sacrifice attention ) its hard sometimes i know, Iv had it so bad in the past that id be laying on the bed and it felt like i was in a hammock gently swaying from side to side even tho my body was relaxed my mind wasn't, thats probably the same with u. Even now looking back i cant quite remember when it stopped the first time i probably occupied my mind worrying about another symptom'.

thanks for your advice i appreciate it. i read alot of other posts that have kindof like the same sypmtom as me but theres is far worse. The have loss of balance and some are bed ridden. Some have really bad headaches and they have all kinds of tests done and nothing was found. i just have this one symptom but it only happens when sitting. it really hurts that people are actully living like that. i am pretty much convinced that i am thinking too much and need to stop. Ever since i was a kid i was a worrier but i hope ill overcome this.

You will get over it bro' some ppl are bed ridden with virtigo but virtigo caused by an inner ear problem doesnt come and go, if you can stop googleing symptoms what ever they are if only feeds it, best of luck with it. Theres plenty of us out there coping every day, tomorrow will be better.

i hope to overcome this thing just like you did. thanks again for the advice.

i hope you'll feel better

Hello - make sure you're not over breathing. Sounds silly as breathing should be a natural thing that just happens but when we over breath we upset the CO2 / oxygen balance and this then causes us to feel dizzy and lightheaded. You may be doing this unconsciously?
