Siento que mi garganta se está cerrando..

I was laying in bed and all of a sudden I start coughing and my throat felt like it was getting smaller. I felt like I couldnt breathe and my talking was shakey. After a few seconds, after calming myself down, I felt fine. This has happened before, it feels like its all in my head. Any clue of why this happened?

Very well could be anxiety, let me preface by saying I am not a doctor but have had similar sensations. Buy a pulse oximeter. As long as you above 90% o2 your will be alright in terms of breathing. Are you having any chest pain?

No, no pain in my chest. Come to think of it, I get so focused on my throat that I dont pay attention to any pain I might be having.

With that in mind, I think I go into some type of shock that triggers the breathing issues. I actually have a service dog that helps me with anxiety. He is sleeping right know so I dont really know what it could be.

I would talk to your gp about a sleep apnea study as well. How old are you? The younger you are the more unlikely it is but best to have things ruled out. Any caffeine or alcohol before you go to bed?

Hi Hun, book an appt with your GP, it could be something as simple as asmtha and your waking up short of breathe, could be anxiety or other similar things.

I was very similar and ended up with a volumiser and inhaler.  Prop yourself up in bed with a few pillows so your airway is open and pop window on the latch for some fresh air.  Remember your not on your own xx

I am 14, I only drink water before I go to bed.

Well, I have had asthma all my life, and the problem started around the middle of 2017.
