fibro and gabapentin pregabalin and chlonazepam

Hell I have severe pain. I was on Duloextin anti depressant which is supposed to help with nearalgic pain too.  She added Pregabalin. I felt awaful

Now I have stopped the Duloxetine.

I have always take 500 mcg of Clonazepam at night which is such a low dose for restless legs.  2 od these is about 1 mg.

It makes me doze off but not all night so I take Zopiclone as I ratel can sleep.

I decided to increase my Clonazepam today   I took two am (about 1mg) one middady and i afternoon.  I have been less anxious AND not in so much pain except still in my jaw for some reason which came from nowhere.

However Clonazepam does not say it is a pain relief for fibro, as does Pregabalin.

I have never tried Gabapentine on its own.  The Preablin made me feel worse with horrific back pain, a stiff neck so I didnot continue.

I have not seen my GP re Gabapentin versus Chlonazepam.  Maybe I had a bad reaction with Pregabslin whilst taking the Duloxetine which causes insomnia.  I seem to be in mid air but waas amazed I had less burning pain all through on incrasing the Chlonazapam, which I took 5000mcg only at night for years for restless legs.  It was a trial today.

Has anyone had experiences with these meds.  Amitryptine again msde me feel drewdful like I had been hit with a baseball bat, horrendous sweats and again terrible back pain.

Also has any one found out that certain food affect fibromyalga??? I am at a loss here. I am 67 female and live in the UK.

Clonazepam is a very addictive benzodiazepine (anti-anxiety) medication. Doubling your dose like that could have serious effects. Clonazepam has no pain-killing properties and generally just makes people calmer and tired. If you intend to live at least several more years, becoming further addicted to that one is probably not your best course of action. It is EXTREMELY diffucult to wean off of.

It's too bad you've had such bad side effects (back pain) from all the antidepressants they've tried you on, because the ones you listed are usually great for Fibromyalgia. Are you sure it's not the Fibro that is causing the back pain you're attributing to the medication? Pain isn't typically a side effect of Pregabalin, Duloxetine, or Gabapentin. These medications need several weeks of daily use before you'll benefit from the pain-relieving effects, but in the first few weeks you may notice a better mood and less brain fog.

I wonder, how is your thyroid, your gut, and your diet?

Gabapentin is usually good for restless legs, and often for Fibro as well. If your iron and ferritin levels haven't been checked, please do that.

Do you take any supplements or vitamins?

Are you able to get a little exercise each day, even if it's just a short walk? It can be tough with the pain and fatigue, but is one thing shown to help if done regularly.

Jaw pain and stiffness is pretty common with Fibromyalgia.

In your other post, you mentioned Zopiclone and Melatonin. Zopiclone is fairly strong and usually effective, but can become habit forming for some people after several months. 7.5mg is commonly used for adults with serious sleeping problems. Consider trying half your dose 20 minutes before bed, and the other half when you wake up a few hours later. Melatonin is a natural hormone, which isn't sedating but can help people normalize their sleep routine (it activates the part of our brain that deal with transition from daylight to darkness). It has some other health benefits too. Finding the right dose is the key, but taking it is unlikely to hurt you, so many people experiment with doses between 1.5 and 10mg.

Gluten is one food known to disrupt the guts and make fibromyalgia pain worse. If you eat a lot of wheat (bread and pasta) consider a gluten-free diet for a couple weeks to see if the pain goes down.

Sorry to hear you're in so much pain, and not sleeping well. Fibromyalgia can be pretty rotten.

Hello - I have tried gabapentin on several occasions and although it helped tremendously with the fibro pain, it came with a lot of baggage. Namely irritability. 

I wish it had worked for me and honestly, it if wasn't for the irritability I would have continued on with it.  It just changed my personality from being easy-going to someone always on the edge waiting to bite someone's head off at the drop of a hat.

I hope this helps and I hope you feel better.. I can't answer on the food issues with fibromyalgia. I am wondering if my fibro is causing my tinnitus and hearing loss in view that it takes over the body.

Hi,

My neurologist suggested Melatonin 3 mg two hours before bedtime. Once again, I feel sooo much better getting sleep.

Amitryptine gives me a terrible migraine that lasts for days.

I take magnesium citrate to magnesium spray for restless legs. Or I get up and stretch my legs each one works for me. 

My rhumb has ne on mess called DEMARDS. They have helped with FM.

I didn't last long on Amitryptlene. Dry throat and bad sinus headaches.     Do the DEMARDS raise havoc with your stomach? I realize people with arthritis find success with that drug family. They are not steroidal?

Yes, two very different classes of medication. One changes the disease itself, the other brings down a symptom, inflammation
