I was just wondering if anyone else suffers from swollen lymph nodes/feeling? Everything I read online only talks about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome causing this?
I have been diagnosed with Fibro now for about 2 years (through a Rhuematologist) I suspect I have had it for much longer though. Does Fibro get worse over time? I have been feeling terrible for the last 2 weeks (bad flare?) I feel like my glands are swollen but I don't feel anything (armpits & neck) So much has been hurting lately as well, my thighs, lower & upper back, hips, behind my knees, rib pain, armpit/arm pain, chest pain & upper stomach pain..phew...I also have IBS & Anxiety. I often feel flushed as well but I don't have any redness in the face or a fever? Does anyone have/feel this way? I hate to run to the doctor all the time but I also hate thinking everything is just Fibro as well... Any input would be greatly appreciated.
sounds like me hun. iv got my ibs and anixety under control mostly with accupunture flares up from time to time when i do something daft, like eat something to spicey or take a whiskey.
the pain does get it worse, with time and all the places you have pain so i have i including arm pits very tender. if i get tired my throat glands swell up and i get headaches .
take a look at brain training to recover from ME and fibro your see how all these are not seperate conditions but symptoms of fibro /me .
meds only knock the symptoms on the head for a while and then they come back again because they havnt got to the cause.
Thanks for the reply. Is ME the same as CFS? I don't have either (as far as I know) I do know that sometimes CFS can over lap with Fibro but I don't have the chronic fatigue that goes with CFS so I don't think I have this. So does Fibro alone cause swollen nodes & fever I wonder?
When i was reading this i was starting to wonder if i had posted this as a question lol.. everything you mentionned is exactley what I go through. Including going to the doctors constantly thinking its something else etc.. I have also been diagnosed with fibro now for 2 years however certain it has been much longer. I also suffer from Crohns and Raynauds disease. I feel like my lymph nodes are swollen everywhere neck; armpit; elbows... but they are not visible nor can u feel them other than a tiny one in my neck. My back and neck are the worst for me.. always always stiff and cracking like really really tight strings... chest always very tight and cracks.. in my ribs. Also always feel as if my face is completely RED and im burning up yet others say i look normal and feel like i have a normal temp. Anxiety is HUGE for me in the past year... I am now on Clenazepam and Cymbalta.. they made a HUGE change for me last year... it helped But i have my moments of re-occurence of these symptoms... the pain never goes away but it has lessened. My doc thinks im a hypocondriact but.. ya.. im sure you understand ... Just thought I would let you know I am also going through the same thing you are.. wether or not it is Fibro related.. i dont know..would be great to hear more input as well Take care and please feel free to email me if you want to chat more and keep in contact regarding our condition it helps Take Care!!
Thanks so much for the reply Allicia as I posted this over 7 months ago! Still feeling lousy with almost all the same symptoms, it's amazing how different symptoms come & go. The pain behind my knees eventually subsided but is now back in full force! Ugh... I will never understand this syndrome. Do you get pain behind your knees? It's a dull ache, front of knees are not bad ....
Pam, I have had Fibro since 1985. I have just about every symptom going. But as far as the lymph nodes, 2 yr ago my Dr found the one that usually swells when you have a cold. he ultra sounded it and it came back fine. Since then it left, but came back 2-3 times staying longer than not. Since Jan. this year it came and never left. My Dr sent me to an ENT, who said I had 4 swollen. meanwhile CT Scan, ultrasounds, etc....I now have 25-30 of them in my neck swollen. They are big, but only the first feels hard, the rest are softer. The ENT, used the word Lymphoma to me a couple weeks ago and she is going in to remove one for biopsy. My Dr says it's not cancer as cancer is hard, and he said even though the first one feels hard to me, it is not "cancer" hard. Now he did not ever say it's part of Fibro, but I am hoping it is something like that. So as long as you can't see or feel the lymph nodes, I would say you have nothing to worry about right now. keep your eye on them though. if they start being able to feel, get to the Dr just for ease of mind. I have been so scared with mine, as they are REAL big, but my mind was put at ease by my Dr. Don't mess around with anything you "think" is Fibro related, as it could very well be something else that needs medical attention. Sometimes I have heard of Doctors that lump every symptom under the "Fibro" category, but ask for testing on anything that bothers you anyway. better safe than sorry. Hope this helps....K
My Fibro pain tends to move around a lot. If I'm in a bad flare, everywhere hurts. I have had it for 9 years now. I get the intense " my body feels like a furnace" feeling a lot. I was told that the part of our body that controls our inner temperature is basically faulty with Fibromyalgia. It happens to me even in the shower where I end up sweating while I'm showering. It's crazy. Also I do get severe back of the knee pain. There are trigger points back there and why it causes pain. I found that over the counter plain large Salonpas patches help with that pain. Hope you are doing better!
My question to not ony you, but everyone in this forum is; Have you been tested for Lyme Disease? I was misdiagnosed with Fibromyalgia, it was actually Lyme Disease. If you haven't, please talk to your doctors.
I know this is old, but this sounds like me. I was dignosed with Fibromyalgia about 2 years ago. It all started when I was misdignosed with an infection, given horrible antibiotics that destroyed me, and I just fell apart. Lately I have been experencing swollen nodes under my arms and pain. I just went to the doctor today and he said it doesn't seem alarming to him as I do not have a fever, not losing weight, etc. Very frustrating.
You are right about those doctors lumping everything under "fibro" that's what a cancer specialist said to me! And he looked at me like I was bothering him with my foolish non-doctorate questions. It seems as if you are not their equal and how dare I suggest some input into what's happening inside of MY BODY! Hang in there. They say there's a light at the end of every tunnel.
Very very frustrating! Hang in there cause Lord knows I'm trying. I get my lymph pain just under my armpits/sides and now into my chest on both sides but mainly on my left side of the chest. I swear I'm worrying to death about a heart attack. Just my luck though.
I have had all the same symptoms and more for years. I have opted out of traditional treatment due to the side effects I experienced in the past. I have switched to alternative medicine and it has been helping. I start each day with warm water with lemon, ginger and mint followed by a cup of bone broth. This has greatly improved my it's along with probiotics and digestive enzymes.
As for the pain, Sam e and magnesium have helped. And for bad flares, salonpas patches.
My lymph nodes have been swollen for a while but because I just had a fever and sore throat accompany it this go around the doc is sending me for testing. It's important that you find a doctor that you can trust. I originally had a dr that told me I was just depressed and nothing was wrong with me. I called the insurance company and got this Dr within 24 hrs. She listened and ran tests and referred specialists until we had our diagnosis. Be your own advocate and do your research. Hope this helps.
Hi I have swollen lymph nodes it's a sign of infection if you have them and can be the result of mild infection or as extreme as something like lymphoma go to the Drs you probably need to have a fbc done to find out what's causing the swollen lymph nodes. I currently have mrsa that is causing swollen lymph nodes in my neck so don't leave it. In saying that depending on the type of lymph issues that are happening for you can contribute to the other symptoms your having with fibro exaggerating the symptoms on top. Depending on your overall wellness depends how bad fibro will be for you.
Thanks. Not looking forward to being a pin cushion again but my pcp is sending me to the hematologist and infectious disease docs again to get screened for cause of my lymph nodes.
It's better to be checked than not know atleast then you will have an idea of atleast some of what's going on for you. I'm glad your dr is taking the time to care. We all need our Drs to do that. Good luck.
So true about the doctors with their how dare you even suggest you know your own body better than them B.S. Those specialist doctors really suck at being human.
You just described all my symptoms. I’ve had Fibro with Abs since my 30’s. Wasn’t diagnosed untill my 50’s. Sometimes I just hurt so bad I can’t stand it. I don’t think people realize how bad this stuff is until they have it. My thighs , hips and back hurt me the most and you can forget having any energy. my lungs are terrible . I’ve had pneumonia 8 times within the last 2 yrs. They say I have asthma, COPD and Respitory Bronchilitis. I think they missed diagnosed me . I think it’s CF with Fibromyalgia because of all the lung problems.
Wow, I could have written this myself. I’ve just been diagnosed with fibro after ruling out everything else on the planet and my symptoms are exactly the same as yours. I also think this started years ago. The rib pain is the worst and now my hips, back and stomach hurt all day. The only way I can deal with it is to keep moving. So far the meds make it worse. Some alternative treatments are Sam-e, alpha lipoic acid if you have nerve pain, and a very clean diet. I have swollen glands in my neck which I’m hoping is part of this. I find it hard to know if I’m actually sick or if it’s the fibro and I don’t want to bother my doctor either. Good luck.
