Hi. I am just wanting to get an idea of how people manage fibromyalgia and working. I am currently signed off but obviously want to go back to work. My doctor has advised me not to go back to my previous job as a carer. I am wondering what sort of jobs others manage and hours that they can manage. Thanks for your help
I do an housekeeping job for 25 hours a week approx used to do 36 but I am shattered by the end of the week.i prefer to work think I would be worse if I just sat at home thinking about it all day.i find that I do fall asleep as soon as I get home. I used to be a doctors receptionist and and think I should have stayed doing that because at least I was sat down
Bless you Ingrid. I done cleaning/caringfor 18 years before deciding to become a carer full time in a care home. Big mistake, Dont get me wrong I love the job but its far to physical and has ruined my health. I am trying to find something else but there isnt much going in my area. I get tired but I think the early starts and having to go to bed early and not being able to sleep dont help either so I am looking for a much more 'normal' hours job.
I too cleaned house for 18 years and tapered down to only 2 houses, I've been in college since 05 have a few degrees and 2 classes left to get my masters and boom I have fibromyalgia so my dreams to work in criminal justice unless I open my own business I've just created a bill I can't use so crazy me I opened a trucking business and now I'm able to work and take care of me. At 45 kids in college I can't give up. What might sound crazy to someone else doesn't matter we must do what we can to survive.
Hi Julie. Thats how I feel at 41 I dont want to give up. My sons has just gone to uni and the other is still at school. Well done for opening up your own business.
Thank you, I know is so fustrating and honestly with support and motivation every day I pray it gets better for all of us! Xo
