Hi everyone,
I have been diagnosed with Fibro following a neck injury12 months ago, from the day i damaged my neck I have had a hi pitched squeal in both ears.
Firstly are the conditions linked and is there anything I can try, i've got a sound pillow which plays music or sounds through a small speaker which has a definite effect over night.
Is there anything that can help during the day time?
Talk to people .gets your mind off of it.
Hi Graham ,keep some noise going in background ,silence just aggravates it I've found ,I've got rhinitis going as well which in turn affects my tinnitus ,when it's low it goes inwards ,so never good day ,so high and low is not good ,with allergies .
So keep noise in background preferably not through head phones .
Distraction as much as you can ,not easy ,but when loud that helps .

Get your hearing checked for hearing aids. Everybiody I know (including me) who is hard of hearing, which is a polite way of saying deaf, has tinnitus and all find hearing aids help it a lot. Although I hear almost every noise around when I.m kitted up and plugged in. which can be annoying, I don't hear that "rushing" noise or that high pitched squeal.
Happy to say My hearing is excellent ,have checks every so often .
So I can say, that the two are NOT connected, in my case
My hearing is excellent too. However with Carefull examination I have a slight drop a 6 KHz. This is very common for tinnitus. I have a hearing aid that produces noise at 6KHz of 30 decibels and it is enough to mask my tinnitus at night time. I wear the hearing ais just for sleep
if you wish to drown out the noise externally you can check out the site Hush Tinnitus. I purchased from them sound files that perfectly match my tinnitus, the only problem being it was great for me but my wife could not stand the noise
Training aids are or were given to some people, my brother included. No unlike the ear pieces supplied for general use these are bespoke therefor only fir the ear they are made for and there is little or no sound leakage.

I have Tinnitus in both ears 24/7 I so wish there was a cure, its ok at night to use a sould pillow but what about during the day, we would look a little silly with a pillow strapped to our head would'nt we!

Hahaha, yes Anne but people go around with headphones on but they still bang there head on the bus windows where as I have a nice comfortable ride
