After 15 years on tamsulosin 400 micrograms daily I discovered tadalafil (cialis) 5mg daily is now an option for BPH. ED had become a real problem but after less than a week the ED is barely evident and retrograde ejaculation is no longer the norm..  I feel much better too. I am so glad I had a chat with my GP and he changed my prescription

That's great news!

How much would you say Cialis has releived your BPH symptoms and made it easier to pee?

Daily Cialis has been approved for BPH for a number of years now.  Glad it's working for you. I preferred it to Tamsulosin as well.

Jim

That is great news, did your insurance cover the cost? About 3 years ago my Doc tried to switch me to the daily also. It worked great, amd even lowered my blood pressure. However my insurance refused to cover it for BPH. Im just wondering if something has changed and now they do?

thanks

That was a long time to have been on tamsulosin. It gave me ED and RE quite quickly. during the latter part of the six months I was taking it I then did not take one at the weekend and took Cialis instead.

I believe the Medicare Rx plan picks up some of the cost. If I remember correctly, around $100 a month out of pocket.

Jim

I am in the UK and our national health service cover it.. I wish I had known earlier but had always thought Cialis a recreational drug.

It probably does that as well :-)

They cover it but normally it is for only one pill a week.

I once had a stroke of luck when a Polish pharmacist did not understand my GP's prescription and took it to be one a day for the two month prescription. He apologised for not having enough in stock and said he would get the balance for the next day.

Fortunately the one checking the prescription was also Polish. I did tell my GP and he laughed at my good fortune.

Being a Senior citizen I don't have to pay for my prescriptions.

Jim

Pouvez-vous comparer le Cialis au Tamsulosin ? Avantages et inconvénients de chacun ?

Merci !

Tamsulosin -- retrograde (dry) orgasm, no change in erections.

Daily Cialis -- no retrograde orgasm, some enhancement in erections.

I found both improved bph symptons about the same but not significantly, and the improvement seemed short lived. Others have had both better and not as good results.

Side effect wise, I found both similar with slight blurry vision, and mild occasional headaches, if I remember correctly. Daily Cialis gave me (and some others here) heartburn, which I'm sensitive to. I was able to eliminate the heartburn by taking one OTC Prilosec a day, one hour before breakfast, but antacids might be all you need if you happen to get it.

Jim

That's a funny story Derek! Are you sure it wasn't one 20mg pill the covered for the week, as opposed to the 5mg Daily Cialis?

Jim

I think that the LUTS improved as I had laser surgery for my bph so reducing retention.

I should have said it It was a 20mg tablet but the effect only lasted for about the 36 hours as expected.

I forgot the half life chart but it does run out after 3 days. With 5mg Daily Cialis, you build up to around an 8mg serum dose, which is only a third of what you get from the 20mg, but it does work.
