Fitbit for heart monitoring?

Hey. So one of the triggers for my anxiety is I hone in on my heartbeat and start freaking out because I don't know if it's beating. When I had my first panic attack I thought it was a heart attack so I think that's part of why it enters my mind. One of my friends suggested I look into getting one of those Fitbits because they show your heart rate so I'm thinking it'd be an instant proof of "see dummy you're fine". My question is are they accurate? I know the step tracking stuff seems to be off but not sure how they work in terms of the heart rate tracking?

I would not recommend it! I started wearing my Apple Watch to track my heart rate and I had to stop because it was making it worse! I was constantly checking it and my heart rate would jump up and freak me out! I haven’t worn it in weeks because of that!

Unless, you just want it to make sure you’re heart is beating. But if it will freak you out to see a high heart rate I would stay away from wearing one!

Hadn't thought of that actually. Hmm. I mean I'd want to look at it as a reassuring thing but I could see myself starting to freak out over it seemingly being off whack.

I have a garmin i use and it tells me my heart rate. I don't look at it often but I seem to have a really good resting heart rate even though my heart feels like it's going 90 to nothing all the time.

No no no.

It will only make your anxiety worse, take my word for it, I’ve  stopped wearing mine. It was making my anxiety worse than it was before I got the dam thing

Any recommendations for an alternative?
