these medications can take up to six weeks or even longer until you feel the benefits. try to hang in there. just let your doctor know if you don’t feel any better after a few more weeks. These medications affect people differently. Take care.
Flouxetine is Prozac under a different name. I have heard this problem with this medication on this forum before. It does not work for every one for some reason. I would call my doctor immediately and tell him your problem. I read it takes 6 weeks to get into your system. Your doctor should have given you a benzo such as, kolonopin, adavan, xanex, etc., for use during the time it takes the Prozac to get into your system and become effective. I am surprised if he didnt. And switching to another doctor may be in your best interest if he/she did not give you a crutch to get over the hump. Thats your problem. Its only been 23 days so the prozac is not entirely in your system yet, so you feel no relief from the original anxiety symptoms. You need a benzo now to keep you sane until the Prozac takes affect. I would call and ask your doctor for xanex by name, but thats me. You may like kolonopin or adavan better, i dont know. But i would definitely try to get something because if not you’re going to be suffering for quite some time until the prozac kicks in. In the meantime all you can do is try to relax and realize its just the anxiety making you miserable. Stay away from caffeine and sugars. Drink lots of water and try to keep your head some place else other than your problems. If your doctor will not give you a benzo because its a narcotic, you can try some over the counter Benadryl, that may calm you down. I have heard it can be used to treat anxiety symptoms, but its going to make you drowsy.
