FM & Chicken Pox

Hi..ive never posted in a forum before now but i really need some advice. Ive had FM for 17 years and was diagnosed 13 years ago. The past 3 months ive been in a bad flare up where i havent been able to leave the house and spend most of my time in bed as ive also got spodylosis of the spine which ive had for 21 years and have had 5 spinal fusions..the last fusion was in august 2011 where i had 2 disks removed and replaced and vertebre shaved and metal rods inserted into my neck. Ive also got under active thyroid so all in all im in a lot of pain constantly. Last week i began to feel sick fatigued headaches and generally exhausted then the spots appeared and Dr diagnosed Chicken Pox! I cant deal with any more illness...and tips or advice on how i can start getting my life back by dealing with this pain would be very welcome...im a single mum of 2 aged 21 & 14 both have ADHD which again is exhausting...right now i feel like im just existing and this is no way for anyone to live...how do i get my life back and be that happy confident loving person i used to be...sorry for the rank folks but i,m alone with this with no one to talk too..xxx

Hi there, first of all I would like to say you arnt alone in all this! There are people out there that care and are willing to listen and help. I'm so sorry to hear all that you have got wrong with you, you must be very low with all that you have to contend with. I have been suffering from FM for a few years but have only recently been diagnosed with this awful condition, so I do understand what pain is, and it sure does help to chat about it, I will check this forum each time I come on line. Take care and hope to chat soon! Keep that chin up! Xx

Hi, I'm assuming that as you have not been back on here, that you may be too ill at the moment.

As has been said, you are very vunerable to other conditions when you are having a bad flare.

It's most important to listen to your body. and not over do anything.

if you need to rest or go to sleep. then, that's what you have to do!

it does make it very difficult to make any plans. but, it's not something you can help.

And anyone around you, has to understand that.

It's no good getting stressed out about anything, if you can help it.

I'm sure you know that stress, is our number one enemy!

i have Fibromyalgia. Diagnosed, years ago, although, it also took years to get the diagnosis!

which, is very common, of course. as there are no real tests.

I also, have slipped discs in my back and am Bipolar, and am mostly, bed bound.

The important thing is to make sure you are getting all the help that is available to you.

for instance. money issues. you should be getting DLA.

And as much pain medication as is possible. (I take morphine, every day).

You may need carers to come in and help you with your personal care and round the house?

My 4 boys are all grown up and have left home.

They are not supportive or know much about it.

but they have their own lives to live.

so, i now live alone. and my carers and the internet are my lifeline.

I also have a cleaner, once a week, so, I don't have to worry about the house.

This is all paid for, out of my DLA. so you don't have to worry about money.

i also have 3 shihtzus. and without them, I couldn't cope.

They are brilliant company. they always know when I am really bad and will cuddle up to me.

I am also, very interested in 'natural remedies'.

There is a brilliant website, for people and animals!

I've spent many hours on there, doing research.

like anything, knowledge is power.

it's, www.earthclinic.com

hope you feel better soon. take care. x
