Good afternoon. I had my replacement just over four years ago, this last month or so I have been having problems with my knee becoming really stiff and aching, swelling up and causing problems when standing and walking. Was wondering if anyone else has gone through this ? thank you
HELLO Im in the same boat as you. Had a right knee replacement 4/18! I never did completley get it to bend all the way after lots of physical therapy. I have a stand up job 8-10 hours a day and if I sit for a few minutes its like I walk like frankenstein! Getting in and out of any car I have to make sure I have enough leg room! There are lots of days Im stiff and it takes me a minute to get going. Putting a sock on and not being able to bend all the way is a hassel . I read on here about those who go through it with no problem, then there's us. I wish I could give an answer to your question since it's been a while since your surgery.
Hi Lynda,,thank you for replying. I am sorry you are going through this too, I dont know how you manage your job, and you have my respect having to stand all those hours a day. And as for the walk I know exactly what you mean, my grand children think I am doing it to make them laugh with my funny walk. I hope one day some one has the answer for us, and all who are going through it
two years ago this month my life changed for the worse..... bad surgery for me...... getting a revision done in April. this one is going to be the one !!! different doc and hospital.
Hi Martha,,,, hope it all goes well for you fingers crossed
Martha...not sure whether we have chatted before but i had a replacement TKR 14 weeks ago on my left knee. It was the second one in 10 months. I am very pleased with the results. My right knee was done 12 years ago and the only problem that i experience with it is if I am sitting for several hours and cant stretch it it aches.
Been on this Forum for four years. What I've read from people who had a TKR years before is that if you stop keeping the knee active, it will definitely stiffen up on you. Then when you resume activity, all the old symptoms come back again short-term until the knee is back to "normal". Suggestion: Restart your ROM work plus the muscle strengthening. With your walking, start slowly and increase until there are no more "balloon knee" episodes. This is a lifelong recovery.
thank you Chico,,,, Cant say I have been in active much, lways walking everywhere Chasing grand children. I will follow your advice though. Thank you
