Hey, so breast cancer runs in my family and so I check myself regularly. Lately tho I keep getting an ache in my left breast and sometimes the right one. I have had children so they have changed a little but when I feel them I keep feeling lumps and can't tell if they are normal or not.. Sometimes it is tender to press.. I have noticed also my nipples go a little crusty almost (I am so sorry for that info :-/).. I know I should see a doc but I suffer anxiety badly to the point I can barely leave the house alone and my husband is about to start a new job so he won't be able to come with me.. I am so scared!! I don't want to tell any friends incase it's nothing but then I'm freaking out about going alone esp with my children any advice is greatly appreciated
Hi
You must feel exceptionally worried having it in the family.
The ache could just be hormonal as I had also been getting a pain in my left breast which just suddenly started one day. Mine hurt if anything pressed/knocked against it and I panicked like mad. After having an ultrasound it turned out to be swollen glands and I now take epo daily which has really worked. I also got a crusty left nipple but breast cancer nurse wasnt concerned. She just told me to moisturise it after showering.
It is important that you pluck up the courage to go to your GP for your own reassurance as they will help to put your mind at rest. Not knowing is far worse. Could you take another family member for support. No one will think you're over reacting. I get anxiety too , mainly over my health so I know how it feels x
Thanks for replying. All my family members live very far away (I was adopted) and I no longer see my adoptive parents.. My mother in law works on week days, same as my husband and I have my 2 children so I'm going to have to go alone I think and leave them with a friend. So so scared but I know I have to go
If its any consolation I went to my appointments at GP 's and breast clinic on my own and it was fine. You will honestly feel so much better for going as it will help put your mind at rest as to what is going on
