Hello,
I play quite a lot of volleyball and a few weeks back I started feeling some pain when I serve and take an overhead hit. At first the pain went away after stretching it out and I've been icing it which has helped but the pain is becoming more obvious every day. I train 4 days a week and it just seems like every smash or serve hurts more, even painting at work hurts. I want to go see someone about it but I'm just not really sure what I’ve injured or how to explain it.
Any help or advice will be appreciated
you definately want to see your doctor as it could be a torn tendon which will get worse without treatment and the pain can be really bad. james16105
Do you mind going into a bit more detail, I have a doctors appointment in a few days. I'm not too big on my anatomy but someone said it could be rotator cuff tendinopathy/
You should definitely avoid any more physical activity involving the shoulder at this point, as it sounds like you're making the injury worse. I agree that it sounds like a Rotator Cuff injury. You should rest the shoulder as much as possible and continue icing it. A common issue with people who are injured is that they don't take the time needed to rest and heal, but just keep doing the activity that caused the injury in the first place. If you take the time to rest and heal properly now, you won't have to worry about the injury coming back again and again.
