Gallbladder removal 6 months ago and still pain

Hi all please help!!!

For approx 18 months I had a few episodes where I felt I was having some sort of heart attack. A couple of times this resulted on trips to the local A&E. It was always confirmed that I hadn't and was sent to the GP. I then devoleped a sort of knot in the centre of my upper abdomen. Eventually after the GP thinking it was a stomach ulcer and given treatment for that but ultimately same issues happening I was sent for a scan which showed I may have stones in my gallbladder. This was then removed 6 months ago.

Unfortunatly for the last 6 months it's been up and down in relation to how I feel. I've had a constant sickly feeling no matter what I eat and have not developed the 'knot' like feeling but this time just to left hand side of where it was before the operation. This sometimes spreads more to the left but is generally just under my bottom left ribs. The reason I've took to posting this is that on Saturday evening I was woke up with the chronic 'heart attack' pain again. Exactly the same as I had before the gallbladder removal. The whole thing is really getting me down now. I've gone from never having to go the GP to all this over the last couple of years. I'm now loathe to go back to the GP at this stage to start on the hamster wheel of being passed from pillar to post again. Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated.

Jon.

hi I feel your anxiety as I have similar going on but much more symptoms and pain than you.

however I cannot offer help as I also don’t know what it is and the docs are useless and uninterested.

i also had mine out 4 months ago and have been in daily pain ever since with same as you including the knot or what I call the punched in the upper stomach feeling, as well as left intermittent pain just under the ribs, and sharp pulling stabbing and burning pain under the right ribs as well as still having pale peanut butter coloured movements.

and no one is interested !!

i think these pains and problems are common after removal from what I can make of it !!

all I keep hearing is these things can happen for up to a year after and to give it time.

i always think time to what , kill me !!

its no help when everyday you think am I ok , is whatever this is going to take my life ?

and no one is interested.

great so called health service we have ah.

hope things improve and you find an answer .

Thankyou for the response. Also sorry you too seem to be going through this mess!!

I have to say id even take some comfort if they told me that it will all settle down in 12 months! However from reading everything there is to read there seems to be no answer whatsoever.

Also, the 'heart attack' pain which happened on saturday night was the first time it happened since having the gallbladder removed. the fact that it was exactly the same pain which started this whole process has really thrown me into turmoil.

Also, as you say the CONSTANT knot or punch feeling is now really starting to get me down. Its there when i wake up to when i go back to sleep. doesn't matter what i have to eat or not, its still there!!!

Like you, i just wish i could get some sort of answer to be able to get on with my life

Hi Jon, it does take time for your body to adjust as you have lost an organ. I had mine out 10 months ago and I can pretty much eat what I like, I'm still careful with the fat side of things as not having a gallbladder to give fats a boost to help break them down I think its important. However I have got abdominal wall nerve entrapment on the right side but it can equally be on the left. I still go to bed in pain and wake up in pain, they've tried a nerve block injected into the site but it didn't last so I'm waiting for another appointment so they can try again. This is all done through the pain clinic which I was referred by my gp. It maybe that they've missed a stone and worth going back to see if they'll give you another ultrasound.

Unfortunately you do need to go back to your gp and see if they'll refer you back to the gastro dept again so at least they can look into it.

I have found if you're not one for going to the gp then when you do go in they do seem to take you more seriously.

Let me know how you get on.

Hey Jon,

I see it's been six months since your last post. I'm hoping you're feeling better. I am a quadriplegic who has not felt pain in 14 years. Now I feel like  I'm going through the same thing  that you guys are going through. Hopefully all is good and it's just time. Look forward to your reply
