I came into Good Hope Hospital yesterday at one for my laparoscopic cholecystectomy as a day case. I only went down to theatre at about five, so have been in over night and am still waiting to see the doctor to be discharged. Mr Fallis and the anaesthetist were so good. As far as I know everything went really well. I have had no nausea and the pain is manageable, so far. I was in some pain in Recovery so had some extra morphine, but since then have had paracetamol and ibuprofen. I am in some discomfort but that is only to be expected. Really pleased with how it has gone so far.
Hi Lynne
Glad the op is over for you . Hope you make a good recovery.
Let us know how you get on.
Best wishes x
Glad all went well. I am back at work now two weeks post op. When I was at Good hope I had Dr Browse they were also all lovely.
Try to rest up as much as possible and continue to take pain killers I still take them now but just a lower amount.
Good news though that all good.
Take care
So glad it went well and you're recovering; I'm always lurking on here because I will probably have my gallbladder removed at some point so it's great to hear good outcomes. I hope you're back to normal soon but for now take advantage and rest, maybe binge watch your favorite show on Netflix
I'm sure you'll go from strength to strength now with maybe one or two small setbacks.
Rest, drink plenty, mobilise as much as you feel you can and don't lift things or make sudden moves. Keep on top of the pain: don't try to do without painkillers. This is one time you need them. Don't wait until the pain is so bad you're desperate for something. Continue to eat small low fat meals for a week or two. You'll be fine.
The feeling of relief that it's out is wonderful isn't it!
From what I gather the vast majority, >95%, have good positive results, from the surgery. I think I have had problems for years, and I was focussing mainly on the bloating, so I was told, food intolerances, IBS etc. I always had the right rib pain, but thought that was heartburn, and always had pain in my right shoulder blade area, but nobody asked so I didn't make the connection.
So far, so good, for me. I will take the pain meds regularly, and look forward to being well and pain free!
Bit nervous about taking dressings off, especially by my belly button, and wish this post anaesthetic silly cough would go!
When you cough, hug a pillow over the incisions. X
My op was twelve days ago, I've definitely had ups and downs, probably my back playing up the day after surgery didn't help.
I think I'm beginning to realise, yes it's taken me twelve days, that pain has been more than I anticipated.
Pits over now, time to go home to rest and recuperate. I was in hospital overnight too, in some ways I'm glad. Like you, I had a late surgery.
Hi Lynne, I'm glad its gone well for you. I was the same, I couldn't fault the surgeon and the nurses they looked after me so well as the drugs made me feel really ill afterwards so wouldn't let me go as quickly as others and my blood pressure dropped too. I felt so pleased with everything I actually wrote a review on that hospital website to add to others that had had a positive experience.
Keep us informed with your recovery and how you're getting on. Take care x
Not feeling too great today. Very tired and uncomfortable. I took my dressings off and they are not looking too bad. My belly button one has lots of dried blood so I have tried to carefully clean that. I have a silly tickly cough which is causing some bother. On the whole I think I am doing well, after all it was only late on Friday I had the op! I am okay if I get into a comfy position, but trying to sit up/get up, and walking about is quite painful.
