Tried posting this yesterday but I had an external url was perhaps not approved by moderators. Posting again minus url
I thought herpes was a possibility after some recent unprotected sex with a guy I went away with. I never got an outbreak and it's been well over a month so I probably do not have herpes. My vagina just hasn't felt the same since I went away. Anyway, since I am still so paranoid, I have been reading these message boards every few days and doing some side research. I am in NO way affiliated with this guy but I take a lot of his products for my health. I started a few years back when I was taking care of my mom who had heart failure. She has since passed. So I thought some would be brave enough to try the garlic method. Any takers? I tried it the other night but of course I do not have herpes so there are no lesions to hurt like a b*tch afterward. So, it felt fine except some instant burning when I put it inside that then subsided. I also take raw garlic internally for it's numerous benefits. I thought it would be worth it to pass along this info though for you guys to do your own research. You can take a bunch of cloves of garlic, crush it and add some olive oil and spread right on. Also heard Manuka honey is great.
Anyone have any other alternative methods to treating outbreaks or keeping them at bay?
I used manuka honey on my sores, as well as tea tree oil. Hopefully I will not have to use it again, but I would. They both burned a little, but i read alot on the benefits of honey. The JAMA even had an article on honey and royal jelly vs. Acyclovin and the natural substances faired better than medication (for relief and earlier dissapation of sores).
That's great! We were given so many medicinal plants and herbs, etc that I would love it if we put the big pharm out of business curious to see if anyone is brave enough to try the garlic. Give it a google since it won't let me add link!
I have seen lots of articles suggesting garlic. Anything natural is better than chemicals, I think I didn't try it because the honey seemed to help, and I didn't want to try anything else that would hurt anymore than I was already hurting. Thanks for the info!
Antiviral meds are the only way to effectively reduce shedding and thus transmission, but I am nevertheless a big fan of using natural herbs (especially teas) to hopefully boost my immune system against HSV, etc.
I'm rather hesitant about sticking foodstuffs up my whatsit, especially something as stinky as garlic, lol, so not externally either!
I love tea tree oil (including the scent), however, and I tried oral bee prop0lis on a lesion a couple of times only to permanently stain my panties a gross yellow, haha.
Manuka honey would be really $$$$ to use down there, surely? Outrageous prices where I am! Must be incredibly sticky feeling, too.
No idea if they work, but I changed my usual evening herbal teas to those that are supposed to help with HSV, so lemon balm, prunella vulgaris, echinacea, liquorice root, St John's wort, etc.
That's true, whatever seems to work! Plus I think it would most definitely hurt ( at first ). I know it's a cure for yeast as well and makes sense to take internally (raw to reap all of its benefits) to keep the immune system up. I add it to my avocado daily with some cayenne and yum!
Great point re: reducing the shedding and transmission. Hadn't thought of that. I actually use a tea trea jojoba gel sometimes on cuts and wounds and razor burns down below. Nice cooling relief.
One thing I noticed using garlic below is if you insert it (ouch for about a minute total) then bam, you actually taste it in your mouth! So weird haha. But I would definitely take it raw to keep the immune system up. I do it so I don't catch any annoying colds during the winter. I live on the east coast in the US.
The teas sound perfect as well. Never tried the honey, I have only read up on its benefits for HSV!
Despitemy aversion to using garlic down there, I do eat loads of garlic in my own cooking, and I also use tons of turmeric where it complements the meal. Turmeric makes everything yellow, including my tongue, but at least it's not permanent like my prop0lis-stained panties! Lol
Haha love the visual 🙈 Turmeric is awesome too. I take it in pill form because I don't usually eat anything that it would "compliment". Hmm but its anti cancer benefits are outstanding too.
I also don't want to answer questions like "mommy, why do you smell like garlic?"...
I have started drinking nettle tea. It's suppose to boost your immune system and a lot of other things! I think it works! I am feeling so much better since i started drinking this! It doesn't taste good but you get used to it and if it works...
Thought i would share this with you guys!!
I also started golden milk everyday. With tumeric and ginger!!! I might not get rid of stupid HSV but i am at least going to fight it...i'll try!!! I'll show it who is the boss!!!!!
The honey wasn't too sticky, I would pretty much only use it when I was lying down in bed (which was alot) and I had a towel underneath. It was kinda expensive, $25 for 12 oz, but I was desperate, and I still have atleast half a jar left. Definitely now have some go to panties when I need them!
Haha, go-to panties! Yeah, I should have worn old or dark ones, but I didn't think to change what I had on, nor did I expect it to stain so badly! Next time I experiment, I'll definitely be wearing go-to panties, too! Lol
