-how many outbreaks have you have since your first?
-and how long have you had it?
I’ve searched and read and researched and this particular data is so vague or non existent. I know they say “it rarely recurs” but so badly need to hear from people who are actually afflicted with it.

sorry not much personal experience (yet…) but following as interested in people’s experiences!
I think the reason there is not much data on this is because HSV is sooo different for every person.
From what I’ve read HSV1 genital recurrences are far less then HSV2 as it doesnt like living on that area so much buuut saying that, ive read about peoole having lots of recurrences even eith hsv1 so I think it’s just a case of learning how your own body deals with it.
im yet to find out if i have hsv1 or 2 or both. but sent off my bloods today.
my experience so far was first outbreak , i had horrible flu but only one ulcer which wasnt too painful, very bearable. i took antival for 5 days and was completely cleared in 9 days.
fast forward a month i had my ‘second outbreak’ which was tingles/itch for a couple of days, then woke up with one itching raised spot, but this went within 2 days and didnt become an ulcer.
i have gone onto daily suppression since as i am currently sexually active (with one partner who knows)
I haven’t had a tingle since suppression.
i will let you know inna couple of days what type i have.
in one month i wont be sexually active due to a temporary move so will come off suppression to see truly how often i get outbreaks.
sorry this isnt much help but is good to talk to others about it to not feel so alone!!!

I’m just wondering…I found out in 2018 I carry type 1. roughly 9 yrs ago or so, I had an issue with significant vaginal itching. at one point there was one area of open skin, attributed it to scratching/pinching my skin from itching. chalked it all up to contact dermatitis as I recall switching pantyliners and eventually it resolved. however the details are now sketchy but had never occured to me be hsv, because it was certainly no textbook outbreak. I question that now because for the past 3 months I’ve been experiencing one sided vaginal burning with neuralgia in right leg. like I know they say it rarely recurs but can u really go that many years without an issue then suddenly have symptoms with no outbreak?! driving me nuts. been dealing with same guy for a consecutive 3 years, 6 altogether…he has never had issues and swears this cant be hsv but I’m scared. so just super curious on other experiences.
