I can't say whether your son's issue is a disability. My understanding is that at his age surgery is warranted if it is severe. It's a long process that you would have to be very motivated to complete the procedure for your son's sake. Have you been to an orthopedic surgeon yet? That would be the first step. I've known of 2 kids with the diagnoses. As I understand its an offset of the bones and is operable. I have lost track of the kids as families moved but the parents didn't seem overly concerned that once therapy is over and braces are removed the kids would be normal. In my area that type of surgery is performed at a children's hospital
Hi there, had a friend with this problem, even though it was severe the parents preferred to avoid surgery. It was solved with the use of leg braces and orthopedic shoes, it took about two years to fully unbend the bones and bring them to a proper alignment. My friend had to get used to the prosthetics but from then on it was easy, she could play, run, etc. When the treatment ended she went to live a normal life.
Oh and btw is not a disability unless it is really severe
Hello Yes he has gone to the children's hospital and he has to have an operation. And the doctor has said it's severe. And gets pain in his legs if it's kicked (eg playing sports at school )
