Hey everyone, so I'm a constant worrier and my mind worries about one thing and as soon as its over that on to another. So a few months ago I started getting sevdete anxiety and with that came severe physical symptoms. My last period finished September 21st, there's no way I can be pregnant, as I haven't had any kind of sexual relationship in well over a year and haven't been out in a few months. However I find myself experiencing cramps like if my period is about to start but it never does, I also have diarrhea but that's quite common with me and for like a week I've been experiencing this bad pain in my stomach that does not last ages and is relived when I go for a poo. Is there something serious wrong, do I have stomach cancer????? I'm 19 btw

Hi Suzanne,
I’m like you and I have quite bad health anxiety; honestly, anything could make me worry and start panicking. Your symptoms actually sound quite like mine when I was worried I had bowel or stomach cancer. I had stomach pains and a feeling like a period cramp was starting but as soon as I went to the toilet, it would go. It sounds to me like IBS, which is what I have (diagnosed by a doctor). Every time I need a poo I get a weird feeling, like a period cramp, then when I relieve myself it goes, which is a common symptom of IBS. As well as this, you say you have severe anxiety and IBS is extremely common in people with anxiety. This is because IBS causes the gut to be abnormally sensitive or ‘irritable’ , which can happen due to traumatic events or upsetting situations and thoughts etc like ones caused by anxiety. I definitely recommend going to the doctor for your problems so they can give you more advice about the situation you’re currently in. I know how hard it is but try not to convince yourself that it is the worst case scenario because it most likely isn’t. Stomach cancer is actually quite rare in the UK and usually other symptoms like indigestion or heartburn are present too. Anyways, I hope this has helped but please go see a doctor so they can help reassure you but I am quite sure it will be something less sinister than it seems.
