Go barefoot for flat feet?!

Injured posterior tibial tendon 6 mos ago. It caused my arches to drop. Now I have flat feet.

Got orthothics but I hear the only weaken your feet more?

I’m starting to feel pain in sandals and that’s not good.

Should I slowly ditch this orthothic for walking barefoot agsin in my house and start using a minimialist shoe!

I already do strengthening exercises for my feet 4 days a week!

Let me know your thoughts.

I’m on the skinny side 5 2 and 105 lbs of that matters

my podiatrist says its a myth that orthotics weaken feet if anything the reverse is true and also said the worse thing you can do is walk barefoot. Are they custom made that's quite important

They were considering guided injection for in my tendon but in the end it was not necessary

The orthotics only fit some shoes so can't wear them all the time which can cause problems

In the house I wear Birkenstock slippers which have shaped support built in

Stick with the orthotics and get custom made ones if you can, I got mine on NHS if you in UK you can do the same , if you are somewhere where you have to pay it is worth it in the long run,

Hi there

Thanks for the reply!

I’m in the US. I got a custom orthothic made.

It def helped . I wasn’t able to walk at first. My heels felt bruised so bad. They tho it was plantar fascitis but it wasn’t. The fallen arches felt so weird like I had someone else’s feet on. I do have some arthritis in my feet(per my mri) prob years of thinking I was a superhero and working out like crazy.

I digress

I still do like my orthothic but when I transfer to my merrells sandals thet started to hurt, as if my foot couldn’t be without the orthothic and I need to have options other then sneakers.

Like u said, especially in a summer I can’t walk on the beach in orthothics lol
