Just to let everyone know who has an under active thyroid.... I have had one for some 14 years. I have been on thyroxine all that time ranging from 250mg to 100mg now I am back on 225mg from 100mg.. You may ask why, well it may seem strange to a lot of taker of levothyroxine users but did you no each company brand has a differant amount of of levothryroxine in, I am not talking about the mg, I am talking about the tablet as a whole. Each brand can be good quailty or not so good, I have just had a major discussion with my G.P, My skin is in a right mess, my joints in such pain I need walking sticks (2), I can't sleep, moody, memory well forget that. I really got fed up with the whole shooting match, now I am being sent for an urgent appointment, to an Endorcrine Surgery . Reason up until very recently my blood tests which I have every 3mths have been quite normal, then boom, they have gone mad, the amount of levothyroxine in my blocd cannot be found. First words out of my G.P. mouth ..... are you taking your tablets..........Well be honest ........ I have gained weight, loss sleep, memory gone out of the window etc., and I am taking 225mg of levothyroxine daily, not a small amount, but its not in my system. So after having ago back at my G.P, he agreed Yes folks he agreed, that differant brands do give differant results and he told me to go to a differant chemist so i could get a differant brand...... watch this space, even when taken the recommend dose, your system even if its been taking for years like mine, my not be absorping it the way it should. We are not the problem, why won't the experts lisson to the ones, who have got the T shirt for this problem US. :x
You know, I have often wondered about this myself. Would you be allowed to say on here which tablets suit you well?
Hi Jas I've been diagnosed for just over a year and despite my 'levels' being in the acceptable range I have major problems with sleep and aches and pains in my joints fuzzy head etc, having recently seen the endocrinologist and been told it's more likely my syptoms are being caaused by menopause and advise to take HRT. I don't want to do this as I'd rather get this condition under control. Keep positive, my family have now accepted what's going on with me a it makes all the diffeerence to have that support I hope you have good support too. Keep posting!
hi jas
i was interested to read your comments on the different affects of levothyroxine. i was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 4 months ago and have been taking levothyroxine since. the first time i took it i experienced headaches, breathing problems similar to panic attacks i thought it was because i was new to the medication.
a month later i picked up the second lot which appeared to be a different label. Didnt seem to give me the headaches, i thought maybe id got used to the medicine but recently i picked up a new prescription and guess what i feel terrible have taken the new tabs which were a different label their giving me headaches, panic attacks and i cant sleep cause its also happening during the night. it only clicked after i read your experience, shall i go and see the chemist or doc?
jas d ps. my names also jas
