goodbye fluoxetine

hello, as some of you may remember my struggles when first taking fluoxetine thought i'd update with a final post. routine blood tests were showing an abnormal liver enzyme thing going on with me so firstly my dose was reduced from 40 to 20mg per day, then a couple of weeks ago i stopped altogether, cold turkey style, having had an emergency backup of diazepam 2mg given to me, well lo and behold my liver enzyme thing is improving slowly, i have only had 2 diazepam in three weeks, and im feeling pretty good most of the time, just the odd days depressive state but thats caused by my ongoing medical problems with newly diagnosed lung condition that im lumbered with. no it is not the dreaded big C, thank god, but its enough to give me concern, hence the odd anxious time, going for pulmonary rehab next week which will hopefully calm my head down. so as this is a fluoxetine page, and i no longer take it through neccessity i think its time to bid you farewell and wish you all peace and love health and happiness. caio, David

You may not want to continue with flu but I want to mention and to anyone else to follow with the follow blood test. I use an herb called Milk Thistle used initially for hepatitis of the liver. I found my sensitiver with my first onset of cholestrol meds. Some docs do not alert of this problem with flu but mine did also.

Hi David

Glad to hear your liver function has improved, and also glad to hear you're feeling quite good in yourself, and hope your other problems are soon sorted.

Sorry to see you go, as your posts have been so readable, and do hope you'll keep in touch.

Junila it is not a case of "I may not want to continue with flu" the fact is my doctor has stopped me taking them, I did not have a choice in the matter!

Yes, sorry, Milk Thistle is alternative medicine, not a prescription. I had asked to use it and see what happened.

I also agree not to use it, follow doctors opinion, you should feel better now without threat of effect on your liver.
