Is the side effect of the urinary incontinence common for the large prostate after the aquablation therapy?

I started to have problems starting after the Aquablation surgery. What started as an outpatient patient surgery they removed my catheter after my surgery, I was unable to urinate so they reinserted the Catheter and I spent the night in the hospital. I was released in the late morning went home had catheter removed about 3-4 days later at my local hospital! No problems whatsoever for the first couple of months , then frequent urination worse then before surgery. The only way to stop the frequent urination is to take my generic Flomax or stop drinking fluids. Another specialist prescribed Gemtesa in addition to the the tamsulosin I am taking. He calls it an over active bladder, but he’s covering up for his colleagues at Colorado Urology!

So there is no urinary incontinence but frequent urination worsening after the Aquablation therapy, right? Have you investigated what causes the frequent urination worsening after the Aquablibation therapy?

I had aquablation done Jan 20, 2026. I kept the foley for one week. After I took it out I had slight incontinence when the bladder was full and I bent over. I wore depends for two weeks after removing the foley and stopped taking flowmax, as my stream was OK and I was already light headed due to loss of blood from the aquablation. The flomax just made the lightheadedness worse. The incontinence improved so that at the 4 week mark it was not a problem any more.
Aquablation 2 weeks ago:
I had some incontinence the first few days after my catheter was removed. It is decreasing to the point where I still wear a pad in my briefs, but it is only occasionally spotted and never wet.
Frequency about every 2-3 hours, but I am drinking a lot. Urgency is waning, and I can usually delay a minute or so.
I had Aqublation done at Stanford Medical Jan 20, 2026 I had incontinence for about 3 weeks, and I wore depends to make things easier. In the 4th week I only had occasional slight incontinence when very full and bending a certain way, but I still used the Depends. After 4 weeks the incontinence was totally gone. The surgery has worked well for me I have a very good stream and do not have RE. although the amount of semen is reduced from before. When I measure the urine with urine test strips it always measures positive for leukocytes, but I have no symptoms of UTI. There are a lot of bubbles in the toilet when I urinate, and a film is left after the bubbles dissipate, The film looks to me like protein. My guess is that it is semen. You have to realize that your original urethra is gone and the urine passes through material that was once interior to the prostate. That should be true of any TURP like procedure. The Urologist says it is OK just material sloughing off after the procedure. I am happy with the Aqublation. It helped me get away from using intermittent catheters for 8 years, since I was starting to have UTIs (4 in 2025), no UTIs now for 5 months.
I had some incontinence for a few weeks after Aquablation, but now 5 1/2 weeks out it has pretty much stopped.
