hello, i recently had a two week heart monitor for some palpitations i get off and on that were causing me alot of anxiety. the result came back as i had idioventricular rythm(basically can cause a slow heart beat is what i understand.) anyway i know low potassium can trigger these kinds if heart issues and heart palpitations. i have also heard that ssris can lower the potassium in the body. i had mine recently checked and was in normal range but on the low side. i find if i drink coconut water i end up feeling much better. my doctor said she doesn’t see any reason for my potassium to be low especially since I’m not taking a water pill or anything but to eat foods high in potassium just to make sure the levels stay up .just wondering if any of you have had any kind of same issues? i have been told at this point by the doctor that they don’t think the Celexa 20 mg is causing any kind of heart issue but it just makes me really curious as I’ve been on Celexa for 20+ years and no one in my family ever has heart palpitations or any heart issues at all . In a way I’m scared to stay on it and I’m scared to wean off of it as well any advice would be great thanks.
oh and also was wondering if anyone had experienced heart palpitations after drinking alcohol while on Celexa? I know it is not advised to drink alcohol while taking Celexa because of mental and motor skill interaction but I’ve heard mixed things about how it affects the heart and I definitely get heart palpitations the next day if I am to drink any wine not sure if that’s a mixture of the Celexa.I know that drinking alcohol can also deplete potassium in the body so if Celexa does that as well the mixture I’m sure isn’t very good any thoughts would be great thank you .
