i am 6 weeks post op tomorrow. I had a rectocele repair. I felt just inside the vagina at 2 weeks and could feel some stitches and vagina felt clear. This morning I felt just inside and vagina feels completely full again. I thought that everything was going well , so now devastated
cathy it's very possible that what you feel is swelling from the surgery. Rectocele repair takes longer than other repairs to heal and recover from and even though you didn't feel it earlier doesn't surprise me. The swelling can take around 12 weeks in some cases to reduce completely so please don't worry and you can always ask your doctor to check for you.
THats good to know Matron. I had my op 2 weeks ago today I there is no way I even want to try and feel inside it is still too tender. I had both a and p repairs. AT least I won't panic if it seems to be taking so long, I see the consultant for a follow up appointment at 6 weeks.
Thank you matron, that's reassuring. I don't want to waste GP time, my follow up at the hospital is July 8th. It seems so long to wait when you are always unsure what to expect, I would have been lost without this form.
I know it's hard waiting for your post op appointment but remember it is extremely rare for a repair to fail so early.
Cathy, I had an A&P and did just what you have done and panicked, it is normal and it will swell for some time if you are anything like me, I am 7 weeks one day and only just starting to feel better, today struggled to poo and felt pressure but ok now still some throbbing for me.
take care hope this helps.
