Fui colocado na lista de espera para retirar minha vesícula biliar, mas será que é a coisa certa a fazer?

I have 18 weeks to decide if I wish to have my gallblader removed, its my choice, but both hospital dr have told me that the pain I have had since feb2015 is not caused by my gallstones they think its more muscular and I have  1 in 3 chance that I will still be in pain afterwards and many have other symptons due to the removal of my gb,so what do I do,going to the pain clinic tomorrow because I have lower back problems but the pain I have now is on my right side and high up on the back, have been on a low fat diet since feb when I was told I have gallstones.I really don't know what to do,op or not.your views might help me decide what to do

thank you

all the best to every one who uses this site

Hi Patricia

If I could turn the clock back I would definitely not have had The operation. Mine has been a bad experience and I had one large stone and gallbladder wasn't inflamed. What I would suggest is to try the alternative road if you can and also stat

sorry Patricia my phone is acting up. Try milk thistle as It's supposed to be great for the gallbladder. Most gallbladder problems are due to high Estrogen Levels in the Body. The liver balances our hormones and when we have too much estrogen the liver can't get rid of it and the bile becomes thicker and eventually gallstones and gallbladder problems start. Ovarian cysts, irregular periods and fibroids are also common. So sometimes removing the gallbladder just gets rid of the symptom and not the cause. I didnt know any of this prior to my op. The milk thistle detoxes the liver and helps it to work a lot better and get rid of the excess hormones and toxins. Try everything you can first. But the milk thistle may help get rid of the stones. I rushed into the op and regret it now. Also long term digestive problems like acid reflux and diarrhea and constipation are common. Wishing you the very best of luck. Take care xx

Hi

thank you for your reply,I'm sorry that you didn't get the out come your were hoping for, this is what I'm afraid of.I didn't want to say no to the op and then find I'm left with this pain,so at least being on the list I have time to think about what I want to do.going to the pain clinic tomorrow ( first time) as i suffer with a bad back but I  have pain patches for this and i think i have that pain under control.the doctors think that the pain i am in now is more mustualr as it hurts when I move and bend down ect,i started a low fat diet back in Feb 2015 and this seemed to help.I was hoping that the doctor today would have just said that I needed the op but its down to me. its just that its taken a long time to get where I'm at at the moment, what with all the waiting to see people and i'm afraid if I say no ,the pain might get worse and I'ill have to wait all over again.I don't want my gall blader out if its not causing the pain I'm in but they don't know if it will help to operate until there in.it could all be for nothing.will try the milk thistle do you get it from the health shop.i did ask if they can disolve the gs and he said yes but they would only just come back again.guess its just up to me

hope you feel better soon

Hi Patricia

Please try the milk thistle. You can get it in any health shop or pharmacies. If you can get the drops that you put into water. I'm 6.5 months since op and still not right. I'm 43 with a 4 year old and feel this has ruined my life. I was told side effects were uncommon but are not. I totally regret the operation and wish someone had advised me not to do it. So many people told me they were fine afterwards but now tell me they can't eat this or that and one has diarrhea for 36 years! They never told me this prior to the op. A lot are on antacid medication due to acid reflux. Some have constipation. Out of 20 people I've spoken to only 1 is the same as before the op and can eat and drink what they want and have no indigestion or bowel problems. I've had vomiting since 6 weeks after the op and thought I was ok a few weeks back as hadn't vomited in weeks so I stopped the anti sickness tablets and started vomiting again within a few days. I have persistent nausea too. Am back on the meds and am praying for a miracle at this stage. My doc keeps telling me it will go away as she's seen others go through similar but I'm losing hope now. Don't listen to the docs the reason the stones can come back is because your liver is under stress. I started taking the milk thistle a few days ago and already feel better. Had no heartburn for the first time in a long time today. Try whatever you can before you have the operation. Too many gallbladders are being removed too easily in my opinion. The medical profession need to fix the cause of the problem and not remove the symptom. I hope you get relief from the milk thistle. Also Apple cider vinegar 1 tablespoon 3 times a day in warm water but stick with the milk thistle and drink as much Apple juice as you can. It could take a few months but it will be worth it. Take care xx

You really have to think long and hard about the decision because once its removed it cant be put back. I am 1 of the people who is still suffering but i have also read on here from people that are fine afterwards.

Can i ask do you have an gynaecology problems? Sorry if that sounds to personal the only reason why i ask is because i have endrometriosis had it for nearly 10 years now and my lower back is agony at times and this is caused by that i have had numerous steriod pain injections to help with it.

I think with regards to the op you need to way up the pros and cons and do plenty of research of gall bladder surgery before you decide best of luck to you take care

If your gall bladder is healthy then no don't have the op!!! I wish mine hadnt been diseased I have had nothing but trouble for three years since it was removed xx

How Are you doing sandynan? Are you any better? Thinking of you. X

Hi Patricia

You have fought long and hard to get to this point , so I so pleased you are at least on the list and have some choice.

As you know I have a similar situation and i have made the choice to go ahead. The desicions was not simple but I did decide very quickly and having made my desicions then I feel so much better  and optimistic.  I am 100% sure it will solve at least some problems even if it's the minor ones it will at least be some relief in 4 years of increasing pain and discomfort.  I am also sure that the surgeon wouldn't agree to operate if they thought there was no chance that I would get some relief.

I appriciate that some people on here have had terrible problems, but it's good to remember that we all come on here looking for answers and those who get good outcomes and few problems never come back, as they just move on in there lives. In the real world I have spoken to loads of people who have had the op and none have had problems that didn't sort within 6 months.

For me also I need to move on and have some hope in my life that I will get some resolution . It is a risk, but so is getting out of bed and walking across the road.   I hope you have people in your life that can help you make this difficult desicions and I hope what ever you decide  your outcome is good. Take care and good luck at the pain clinic xxx

Hi ace

thanks for the tips will try the milk thistle and apple cider vinegar, just got back from my first visit to the pain clinic my doctor sent me there because i have got lower back pain which has been under control with pain patches.they are going to give me joint injections in my spine to see if the pain goes away,if they can rule out my back being the reason for the pain I have been in since feb then I will no wether or not its my gallstones. At the moment I am thinking that I don't want the op as I don't have all the symptons people get with gs but i don't want to be in pain all the time.its not as bad as it was last feb but I'm thinking maybe i had a gs stuck then and what if it happens again.sorry you are not one of the lucky ones on this site who return to normal after op.i have 18 weeks to decide so hopefully i will have my injection before then

hope you feel better soon

take care

Pat

Patricia

Glad your getting the Injections. I hope they help you. Do everything you can to get rid of the stones. I wish someone had been honest with me 6 months ago. My gp is a great support and keeps telling me I will get better. She had a patient who had vomiting and diarrhea for 8 months pouring out of her and then it started to improve at the 8 month mark and took another few months until it all finally settled down. I'm terrified I'll be left like this. I hope my gp is right. Keep me posted on how your doing. Take care xx

Hi coral

sorry to hear you are one of the ones  still suffering,I was told I have a 1 in 3 chances of still being in pain after the op,by two doctors.

thanks for the advise,I went to the pain clinic today as my doctor thought they might help,i explained to them what two doctors have now said about it might not be my gallstones giving me the pain but my back.they have agreed to give me facet joint injections in my spine,I have had theses before for lower back pain,i think they are also steriods.so i hoping to get them done before i have to decide whether to let them take out my gb.I don't think i don't thinkI have any any gynaecology problems, but was told I have  a prolaps bladder when I lived in Spain, At the moment I feel that I wont have the op as I don't have all the symptons that people have on this site.i just hope I don't get the pain back as bad as it was in feb 2015 when this all started.part of me is afraid if I don't have the op and it comes back like before i will regret it.its such a waiting game and not much fun when your in pain.hope things get better with you take care

Pat

sorry don't know why but my message has been sent for modations, hope you feel better soon will let you know how I get on,at the moment i don;t want the op take care

Pat

oh sandynan am so sorry your still suffering too. Did you try the psyllium husk or The caltrate? They might help you and are worth a try. Well I thought I was getting better and I stopped the anti sickness tablets and within 2 days felt green again and started vomiting. Went back to my gp and she gave out to me for stopping the tablets. She keeps telling me it will settle down and the vomiting and nausea will go away as she's seen it before but I'm finding it hard to believe her now. She had a patient who have vomiting and diarrhea for 8 months solid and then at 8 months it's started to get better. She's told me I could be like this for another 6 months. I asked her had any of her patients had long term side effects and she said she has 1 patient with bam whose on questran but everyone else is fine and she's lots of patients who've had the op. I'm really finding it hard to believe it will settle down after this going on so long. My whole family are affected by this. I so regret this operation and advise anyone who has stones to try the alternative road first as I wouldn't wish this on anyone as I'm sure you'll agree. Sandynan you can't be left like that. Is there any other medication you can try? I'm taking the caltrate and the psyllium husk as I had diarrhea the first 6 weeks and I'm afraid to stop in case it comes back again. I really hope something works for you soon. Thinking of you. Xx

Dr said to me that pain with gallstones can be in different places for different people.

One dr did say more or less the same thing to me that he wanted to rule out other causes of my pain so that I did not just assume it was gallstones, have my gallbladder removed and still have the symptoms.

I had my gallbladder removed 8 weeks ago and I amgoing to be honest with you here.

I feel a lot better. No more horrible pain in my right side.

However, I still get stomach ache sometimes, particularly after eating a meal and am still being careful what I eat.

To me if you know you have gallstones it is best to have your gallbladder removed

Hope you are able to make the right decision for you

Take care and keep in touch

Praying for you

Sarah xx.

hi sandy

at the moment i am think that I wont go for the op but will have to wait and see how things go

hope you feel better soon

Pat

hi finadindin

thanks for your reply, your right a lot of people have the op and if all goes well they no longer feel the need to use this site,I have found it very helpful but also very fightening.but it good to know both sides of having or not having the op.I'm hoping to get the facet joint injection that the pain clinic has suggest done before I have to decide,I have had them before for my lower back pain,so if it is my back causing my pain as both the gb doctors have said then maybe they will help.the first gb doctor just said it was my back and sent me for a mra scan whish came back with just general wear and tear, the second one said yesterday the same thing but was willing to put me on the waiting list but said I had a 1 in 3 chance that my pain would be the same.its very much a waiting game but I have been lucky then some and have not been waiting as long as you and others have.I hope having the op is the end to all your pain and you can then get on with your life pain free.take care and keep in touch
