Health anxiety and prolonged sinus problems

Hello! This is the first time I have posted here. The reason for my discussion is I have had various problems I have faced this past year in regards to health anxiety, sinus problems, and recently mental health (not too major). Firstly, I have always had a minor-major case of health anxiety worrying about how I feel constantly within my brain mostly due to the symptoms I have been facing for the past 8 months. These symptoms are blurred vision sometimes, feeling tired, pressure in my nose/ear, uncomfortable, which I believe are triggering my health anxiety...Recently its gotten to the point where my mental health is taking a toll over worrying about it. Usually taking a nap or sleeping makes it go away but its typically on a day to day basis. I think that I may have chronic sinusitis, or a really bad sinus infection but wanted to hear what others thought of my symptoms and experience with it all. Thanks!

-I suffer from health anxiety lately too, and in general anxiety for years lol.

-A few months ago I went to the Dr bc I thought I had vertigo. My ears always felt “full” like I was on an airplane. N i constantly felt dizzy too, like the feeling you get being on a boat. She said I didn’t have vertigo but did comment on my nostrils and me having Rhinitis.

-Recently I have calmed down and haven’t been feeling as anxious, and since my anxiety has been better I also haven’t noticed any of those symptoms ^^. My ears feel fine, nose feels fine, no dizziness. But the moment I started feeling anxious they all come back lol. It’s weird, the dizziness is common with anxiety but I don’t see much about nostrils/ears when I google. It must be related to my anxiety though bc I only have those ear/nostril fullness when I’m anxious.

-I did see one article about how your muscles tense in your body, so sometimes it can cause a pressure in your face/head. Maybe that’s why we feel pressure in our nose and ears?

yes i understand i have chronich sinus this make my health anxiety worse something but we have to keep working on the anxiety because sinus allergies stuff like that we cant no control we did no choose to have it we just need to get treatment for it and keep working on the anxiety monster

Exactly very similar to my experience. When I am not thinking about it it seems to go away. That might be due to not realizing the symptoms but could also tie into health anxiety in general. I am thinking once I get checked out and find out if everything is okay I can cope with the symptoms better and have a better mindset about it.

  • I can also say I have definitely had a prolonged sinus problem that I never got checked out…
  • Thanks for the reply  Definitely helps to talk to people about it whom experience it as well.
