Hello everyone. So I'm terrified of melanoma! A few months ago I discovered a few new moles in my lady area (labia minora) and since then I've been anxious and depressed. I also have a brown bump on my leg that never went away and came from a mosquito bite I think (maybe nodular melanoma). I went to the doctor and she said everything seemed okay but if I wanted to I could go to the dermatologist. I really need to go and it's taking so long because I have to travel and I won't even enjoy the trip cause I'll be so scared. It also doesn't help that death is my biggest fear. I can't help thinking that when I go and they'll diagnose me with melanoma and I'll die or if they cure it I'll freak out for the rest of my life thinking it will come back!! :'( I cry everyday and I'm so unhappy.
Sorry this was so long. Thank you for reading. I'm fairly new here
The rules of health anxiety are....stop googling, stop looking for reassurance (which is never enough) and when a Dr tells you something - believe them. Simple rules, but sufferers never follow them. Get some help for anxiety in general, follow those 3 rules and you'll get on a lot better.
Very simply go to a dermatologist and get a full exam. Go to the gyno and get a full exam. Those are specialists and know hat they are doing. If you are in a place where the gp knows it all go there and have a full skin and gyn exam. Have you done that? Google cant not help you at all, not one bit with these issues. Google cant see your body and you are too negative to properly simply pic an image and make a sound decision. I say doctor visit here get cleared on your health, remove what annoys you so its not there and never turn back to dr. Google. In terms of death there is no point in that fear. You will return from wherever you were before you were born, thats a more personal belief system. What i will tell you is you are a lot more then a human body..you are three dimensional a body, a mind and a soul. Souls dont die. I cant tell you exactly what happens i dont know. Depresiion is a different issue and if needed they do have medicine to help with that. How or why did you set your obssession on skin?
Well now someone has told you, and I probably will have one tonight. I usually have a late nite feed, and it is often an egg sndwich. Does this mean that now I have to think of you every time I eat one?
It started with these new moles. I did go to the GP and she said that they looked fine but she also said she wasn't a specialist so she could be wrong.
That was a foolish answer from your gp. She can give you a referral. call up and ask if you can have a referral. Then go. Get it over with. Then you dont need to focus on this.
