Health anxiety symptoms?

I have extreme health anxiety/panic. It’s a new symptom everyday and I’m trying my best to pull through. I’m on medication but it’s not exactly helping that much. For the past few months what’s been bothering me the most is this weird weakness in my legs and arms, I just feel lightheaded and have no strength and jittery even at times where I feel like I’m not even anxious. Is this the anxiety?? I’m so freaked out by it. If anyone else goes through these symptoms, what helps you the most? I.e medications... anything! Breathing techniques DO NOT help this at all.

Hi Hayley,

How long have you been on your medication? I too am experiencing a weird weakness, lightheaded and shaky. Some days are better but I do feel extremely fatigued. It could be anxiety as this causes so many symptoms. Keep your doctor up to date with your symptoms too just so you can be assured you have mentioned everything. I too find it hard to believe this is all anxiety especially as some days I struggle out of bed. I think it is important to listen to your body to rest when you feel you need it but push yourself to do things periodically even if it’s a struggle. I listen to guided meditation when trying to relax, there are many on utube, I read before bed then switch on some meditation to help me sleep. I try to get a little exercise every day I have to push myself there too but even if it’s a short walk it’s better than nothing. On bad days it feels like nothing is helping, I try to accept it and tell myself tomorrow will be better. It’s hard I know but talking and listening to people here also helps to know you’re not alone.

Hi could be a long shot but maybe you could be low in vitamin D? I was exactly the same for a while, couldn’t get out of bed, no energy to do anything, aching and odd feelings in arms and legs, after a blood test it showed I was extremely low in vitamin D, I’ve been put on a high does for 15 weeks and feel much better now...I live in England so we don’t get much sun, I suppose it also depends on where about you live

Maybe so! I live in the US, Alabama at that. I take a multivitamin but maybe it’s not enough.

I’ve been on them for 3 months now.

It may be worth a blood test if you haven’t had one already to check for any deficiencies. Medication can take a while to kick in, I was on fluoxetine but only lasted 3 weeks as the side effects were just too much, dizzy, sick, loss of appetite, unable to get out of bed as I was extremely fatigued. My blood tests were all fine so maybe I’m extremely run down who knows but I’m a little better after stopping the medication. Having said that for many people the medication works really well....I’m just not one of them!

I’d ask for a routine blood test at the doctors to rule it out, I’ve always taken a multi vitamin also yet my vitamin D was still low

I had to come off fluoxetine to as it didn’t agree with me either, made me feel worse

Hey Hayley, you say you are on medication but what kind? Just one or multiple? Have you spoken to your doctor about your new symptoms and how you feel about the medication being effective? I have had the same symptoms and they never found another cause so it is very possible it is just part of your anxiety but I would talk to your doctor asap, they may be able to change your medication or tweak your dosage or do something to help you with these new symptoms. Medications and therapy were the only things that helped me, I was on a combo of meds and it took a lot of years to find the right ones at the right doses in the right combination to help me. Always talk to your doctor or doctors about any medication questions or concerns, you never want to try and "self-medicate" like adjusting your dosage on your own or starting or stopping a medication without doctor advice. I have tried just about everything on the planet and for me benzos are a must for my anxiety. I know a lot of people have horror stories but I've never experienced any issues. Well unless you count losing my insurance and not being able to be on them an issue lol!!! I haven't been on any of my meds in a few years now, been hell, and I didn't have any horrible withdrawl issues or anything like that, my anxiety came back but like a vengeful b***h but I was like this before medication so I just take that as the medication works for me. But again talk to your doctors. Also, don't stop trying other things, you never know what might work for you. Best of Luck!!!

I’m currently on Lexapro and Buspar.. maybe stopping the lexapro may help?

I can’t help I’m afraid, can you speak to your doctor for advice on that?
