Heart palpitations after eating

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. After nearly every meal that leaves me feeling full I experience heart palpitations that I can feel in my neck and even in my stomach they feel horrible as if my throat and chest are beating out of my body. It lasts for about an hour or two and then begins to decrease slowly over the next few hours. I was wondering if this is normal and has anyone got an explanation for it. I was recently diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder also and got the all clear on my ecg and blood tests.

Hi, palpitations are unpleasant but if tests you have show no problem with your heart try to take some comfort from that. I have had  a variety of palpitations over the years including ones that seem to be triggered by eating a meal. There is a nerve which runs from your heart down past your stomach called the vagus nerve which can cause palpitions like you are experiencing.  Try to eat fairly small meals rather than overloading your stomach, also try moving around after eating as sitting with a full stomach will put pressure on the nerve. Best wishes.

This happens to me when I eat junk food, fast food places or restaurants!! Ive noticed fried plantains or fried beans also make my heart pound, Ive had 2 ekgs in less than 6 months and they have both been normal. Usually when I drink cold water my heart starts to pump not as hard, when I eat I drink cold water so It wont happen

Yes this happens to me
