I have been on 30 mgs since July 1st. I have been fine since switching. However, my heart has been pounding. I dont remember my heart doing this the last time. Does anyone else experience it?
Hiya, I am on 40mg and have been for 15 years. I do experience heart palpitations, sometimes it skips a beat or two then goes ballistic - quite unnerving! Having done some research, it does appear to be one of the side effects of Citalopram. Mine are getting worse as time goes on. Sorry I can't explain why or be of more help but wanted you to know you are not alone.

I may be going up to 40 soon. Seems that other than the palpitations, 40 has worked well for you. Have you ever tried to reduce to 30 and if you did what happened.
Hi, yes I've tried to reduce several times but unfortunately had such such severe symptoms that I've immediately returned to 40mg. However I'm in a much more stable place now, so am starting 35mg from today. I hope if I can get through the withdrawal symptoms that the palpitations will reduce. After all these years it's hard to know really what side effects I have due to the citalopram. I certainly have massive sweats, which I do think are related, although could also be anxiety? I don't know, time will tell I guess. I hope your palpitations improve. They don't affect or bother me too much to be honest.
