I have just come back from the doctors after discovering ulcers/sores down on my genital area and by the looks of things i do have herpes swabs have been done but I am absolutely devistated I can't seem to understand how I have caught it as I have not had many sexual relationships and I had split up with my ex of 2 years about 6 months ago. and I have been seeing someone for about a month now and he has told me he knows he has nothing but i started getting these symptoms when I started sleeping with him. I am so scared and confused I just need some advise on how to deal with this
Just to give you a peace of mind i would encourage him to get tested. It is possible that the virus kind of sleeps for a bit i guess you could say, meaning he very well could have it and he may not know it.
Have you been told if its hsv 1 or 2?
Sounds like it's from your new partner. I agree that he should test (for IgG antibodies to herpes). If you are found to have HSV1, that is better than HSV2 and most likely from him giving you oral sex. Wait for your results and be sure to confirm the HSV type.
March him down to the clinic, don't take no for an answer. I know that may seem harsh but he needs to be tested. If as you said he is the one to blame, then he may well crack and admit before the testing.
