HELP! vulva irritation, redness and burning/itchying inside vagina

Hello, this has been going on for two weeks now! It all started with me wearing a particular pair of underwear (lacy/ meshy type of lingerie). After wearing I started having extreme itchying around the vulva and pubic area AND also burning and itchying inside the vagina. I've been getting a thick white discharge. I was under the impression I had thrush so I took a one-day treatment thinking that would clear it up. But it certaintly hasn't. I am in a lot of discomfort and has been affecting my self-esteem greatly... also bringing up emotions of past sexual trauma. Is it possible for contact dermatitis to last this long?! I tried a cortisone cream but didn't help at all. In the past, also, using creams like that only made my symptoms worse (i.e. got a secondary rash in the area). I'm desperate to be relieved of this extreme discomfort as I have been blaming myself a lot for what happened. Victoria.

Hi

Firstly I can empathise it really does affect you - I have been plagued by similar since a UTI in May and then thrush - in fact I wonder if thrush caused the whole thing. Things are only just beginning to settle for me, so do take heart because when there is any sort of issue down there it can take awhile for things to heal it seems.
I found that bicarb/baking soda in a bath helped most as it’s got amazing properties - have you seen a doctor too? I also understand about the trauma without going into it it definitely has an impact I know. I would

I have had similar issues and can sympathize with you! In my opinion it sounds like a yeast infection. I had one so bad my whole vaginal are swelled up bigger than a baseball. It was so swollen it couldn’t swell anymore and was seeping plasma everywhere. The Doctor said it was a yeast infection. The discharge definitely sounds like yeast infection. Then I tried a hydrocortizone yeast cream and nystatin anti-itch cream and both caused me severe chemical burns. Please be careful! My Doctor gave me a 1 dose med for fungus and it helped.
I can recommend definitely DONT itch it if you can and take cool baths 3-4 times a day. Also sitting on an ice pack helped relieve the pain and I took 2 claratin and tylenol a day. This helps with any pain and of course the uncurable itch you cant scratch away. You can do benadryl but I am allergic to it. Good luck! My sympathies and prayers are with you!
